I call BS... Honestly FI is a whole different monster... The stock valve spring pressure isn't that much and even if you put a little cam in it you'd have to change the springs... I'd do it if I were you, seriously... Think about it... If the boost is resting on the valve and the spring does't have enough pressure it's going to stay partially down and loose air just like if you had a cam with overlap... Also the obvious chance of banging one of your pistons...

Guys here are recommending them because they HAVE been there and done it successfully... they don't want you to break your pistons or have to rebuild prematurely... Just think about it bro..

I guess my 918 springs should have been fine with my small 224/224 .567/.567 cam and boost too right? The custom valve reliefs installed into my pistons told a different story though. That was 14-15psi.

You can run on your stock valvesprings at 5psi without any problems for quite a while, just shift at 4500 rpms.

Good luck reinventing the wheel, sounds like you are way over your head and taking advice from people who haven't been there done that.

comp 918's should be good with the stock cam. Thats about all you will need, not sure whats involved in an entire spring kit though. I dont think youd need hardened pushrods but you could look into that as well since you will have the heads pulled. Good luck though and keep us updated!

I think you should be very careful with driving the car, bogging or any issues with an FI car should be handled with the utmost care, otherwise we are going to be seeing a "what forged engine should I get" post from you very soon. Be careful with that car man and get things sorted out before getting into boost!

IF i where you i would go with the comp 921 double valve springs just incase along with hardened pushrods AND hey if you decide to through a nasty cam in there you allready have the springs to handle it you would just have to get defrent length pushrods and mabye a new timingchain and posibly a oil pump if you want. Are you using the sts pump for oiling?

How could he be floating springs at 0psi then? This whole valvespring thing is got me wondering, because I can throw 15-20psi of boost on stock 3800 valvesprings and not have them float on me. We use STOCK ls1 valvesprings to upgrade our system for piece of mind.

Well at 15-20psi how much cfm are you pushing through the heads?? Also, what is the lift of the cams on the 3800?? it's all about spring pressure and being able to shut while boost in introduced... at the VERY least I would go with the 918's but you can get the patriot dual springs (which is one of the best spring for the money IMO) and not have to upgrade even if you go ahead with a larger cam...

This has got to be one of the funniest threads i've read ANYWHERE.

Listen to these guys. I can't believe anyone's even offering advice anymore.

Good luck.
