Default The firechikn is alive, finally.

Well the car is finally coming to be. It's taken alot longer than I thought oringinally. The project changed directions along the way, causing more delays. All the work was done by me and a couple of friends. The original budget flew out the window, but once the build started, there was no turning back. Originally, I was going forged 347 with a S80, stock 317 ( S80 is pictured in the mock up pics) . Once it was time for the engine to be built, it was like, I should buy a forged crank, well if I'm buying a crank I should buy a stroker and go 408, if I'm going 408 I need better heads. It was all down hill after that. You know, the usual.

Anyway, car details:

02 WS6
all the BMR goodies
9" 3.50 gears, detroit, 35 spline axles
408, Eagle crank, comstar rods, diamond -28cc race pistons, diamond rings
Edelbrock heads, 245 runner, 2.08 int. valve ported and assembled by West Coast
custom cam
ls6 intake
fully built fuel system, twin in tank, injector driver, 96lb
O.F.I headers
S91 from Jose at Forced inductions
Turbo Smart waste gate
Tial bov

The car is ideling good, but still alot of tuning to do. Should be on the rollers in the next couple of weeks. Big thanks to Jose at Forced Inductions, and West Coast Cylinder Heads.

this picture is deceiving, that's a 325/50/15 mt

Some #'s soon to come.

Looks nice. Are you going to stay with the screen, or do you have room for a stubby tube to a filter? I don't like screens for street driven cars - especially in NorCall - too much abrasive dust and grit.

Thanks everyone. Yeah, still have a/c, just need to run the lines. Doing some test fitting in those pics. Should be wrapping up the loose ends this weekend. Meth tank leaks, straighten up some wiring, cover for the radiator and condenser, and grinding the passenger back caliper some more ( boy that's fun ). Should be getting the tune good enough to drive, then its time for some real tunning.

Is your downpipe going down the drivers side? What size is the downpipe? Are you useing a stock k member or after market?I couldn't see the downpipe route in your pictures.

BMR k member, 4" pipe to oval under the k member. I was worried about ground clearance when I was building it. It was hard to tell without everything in. All said and done, I've got 4-5 ish inches.

I am looking to do the same thing!!! Looks AWESOME! Can we get some pictures underneath the car? Also how in the world did you keep your factory A/C? I am guessing your battery is located in the hatch?

Trans is m6 with a spec 5. I don't think I'll give up the shifting, after all, this is a street car. Transmissions will always be a problem ( I got a hurt goat in the garage now, that needs a new one).

Battery is in the back. Made brackets to mount it in the spare tire well. I've got a painless electric battery disconnect to use at the track.

Radiator is a griffin from summit. The same one everyone uses. It's like $200 or so.

Joel the headers took some modification on the passenger side. After changing the plugs a couple of times, I've got the hang of it.

The a/c is no problem to keep when the down pipe runs under the k member. Waste gate is another story. It took some creativity but its in there.

Oh yeah. The down pipe is 5 to 4" off the turbo, convert to oval under the k, back to round past the bell housing. I've got 2 3" cutouts in the round section past the bell, then it reconnects to the loudmouth that was on the car. I must say, the car is pretty quiet with the cutouts closed.
