Default HOW WOULD YOU PAY FOR A TURBO KIT?

I NEED TO KNOW HOW MUCH WOULD SOMEONE WANT TO PAY FOR A TURBO KIT. WHAT KIND OF HORSEPOWER THEY WOULD WANT, IF THEY WANT A AIR TO AIR OR LIQUID TO AIR INTERCOOLER.
IAM BUILDING A KIT FOR A 02 TA ,WHICH WILL MAKE AROUND 500 TO 700 HORSEPOWER(AROUND THE 550 MARK WITH A STOCK MOTOR). THIS KIT WILL RETAIN THE AIR COND,UNLIKE THE OTHER KITS SOLD. THIS KIT ALSO HAS STAINLESS 304 TUBULAR HEADERS,CROSS OVER PIPE, AND DOWNPIPE.THIS KIT HAS A LIQUID TO AIR I/C IN ITS PLANS AND ALSO AN EXTERNAL WASTEGATE.
ANY INFO. FROM YOU GUYS WOULD BE GREAT. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS KIT IS GOING TO BE WORTH REPRODUCING OR NOT. IAM NOT TRYING TO SELL THIS KIT ,JUST WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF IT WOULD SELL. THANKS BRETT

it would be hard, but not impossible to get 550 horses.
what you do is add up all the $ for the parts, then find ou tthe labor, set you labor rate that it takes to build the kit, then add a samll devolopment fee.
usally a turbo kit runs from $4-7k

i know rob is loosing money on his kit.

I THINK WITH THE RIGHT TUNING 550 COULD BE MADE.BUT YOUR RIGHT IT WOULD HARD DUE ENGINE MANGEMENT ISSUES.
I HAVE ALSO SEEN THE RANGE OF PRICES FROM 4-7K ALSO. THAT WAS THE INFO I NEED FROM YOU GUYS IS THE AMOUNT YOU WOULD BE WILLING TO PAY FOR THE KIT ,TO SEE IF IT WOULD BE WORTH IT.I COULD PROBABLY DO THE KIT IN THAT PRICE RANGE.
LIKE I SAID ,IAM NOT REALLY TRYING TO SELL THIS KIT RIGHT NOW UNLESS THERE IS ALOT OF INTEREST IN THE KIT

I think that you would have an easier time getting people to respond to this if you finished your prototype kit first and had some dyno numbers and track times on the kit.

I would say that on average someone posts a topic almost exactly like this once every 3 months...most of those people post quite a few times over a few days and then, poof, they are gone.

What made you decide on a liquid/air CAC? I thought air/air CAC were better for street cars???

I'm seeing TT kits going for anywhere from $5500 to $7500. Anything in the middle would do okay I think.

The turbo crowd will be impressed with dyno numbers and track numbers that make sense.

I went with the liquid to air I/C , due to the lack of room in the front. With a large enough heat exchanger it should keep the air temps low. Iam also installing a large resivoir in order to ice it down at the track.

I think with the way the headers are made they would fit the truck. Ive not really looked under the hood of one to see if it would work. Ive got a friend with a supercharger on his truck,i can take a look at it and see if its at all possiable.
Again thanks for all the info guys ,keep it coming, maybe with your help we can make this happen.

Those headers look great! Can you make a drivers side turbo header for a Grand National Like that (PM me if you can)?

Where are you going to run the downpipe on the passenger side? It doesn't look like there is much room left there - is that in an F-Body?

yea it is going to be a tight fit! I had to get some real tight radius bends to make it happen. We also might go with some type coating on the pipe to reduce the heat also. The kit is being fabricated on a 02 trans am.

Looks very promising. I have been looking at the turbo kits but really want a twin turbo. The only suggestion I can make is make it to where you can build on to the kit and not replace parts. I personally hate doing things twice and do spend more money at one time for something instead of buying something that I will just have to replace later on. I know the words are kinda mixed up in there but hopefully you get my point.

Looks great!!

It would be cool if you could design a tuner kit so that you could use a water/alky system as well.

That would save alot on costs. I like the turbo location but aren't you worried about melting stuff?

I wonder how much the manifolds, crossover and turbo with oil feed/oil drain lines would cost?

Keep us posted!

Me too! 2 words... MAN HOURS! Thats some skill!

I think might be good for a starter kit... some type of kit that offers just piping and some other things needed fabricating. That way the only thing that's left would be bolt on stuff that you can get from any magazine/turbo shop/home depot. Make it affordable enough and easy enough so the backyard tuner can put it on without having to throw a chain and tackle over a tree branch.
