Default How do you tap an oil pan for -10 AN fitting?

Well I bought a fancy new black anodized -10AN fitting with O-ring to use for my oil return line. This may sound stupid, but where the hell can you find a tap that big?

I was trying to avoid having to take it to a tig welder...but I guess its the best way to do it. Is there a particular fitting you recommend using? You would think there would be a way to tap for an since the one end has an o-ring.

The O-ringed Straight Cut fittings are generally used on Fuel pressure regulators and water pumps

I got a -10AN to 3/8 NTP fitting.

Should a bulkhead nut or some blue loctite be used for safe measure?

i just did my oil pan go to a hardware store and ask them for a 3/8 NTP which is a pipe tap.
use thread sealant it will be fine there just oil returns no real pressure on them.

you want a AN to NPT fitting. You'll need a big drill for the bit to tap for 3/8" NPT though.

Find a pipe store. I swear their smallest taps are 3/8 NPT. They laughed at me when I asked for a 1/8

LOL. Same thing here, but I was asking for a 1/4" and 3/8". They had the 3/8" tap which was the important one for me.

well .. on some of the NA supra setups, we used to use a holesaw, then tap it out with a 1/2 inch thread, followed by cleaning and JB weld, with the tapping makes it pretty strong.

however, now a days we just weld =)
