500 rwhp stock bottom
I just want to know how many of you guys are at 500+ plus on a stock bottom end. Currently I'm heads/cam(N/A) and thinking about havivg a custom turbo fabbed for me. I'll run low boost til I get it forged. Right now I make 417rwhp 400rwt in an A4. I figure even on low boost I'll shoot for 500 at the wheels. Will i have to forge the bottom at those levels if going FI?
thanks
john
I do have Katech rod bolts if that helps.Heads are TSP stage 2.5 5.3 heads, ported fast 90/90 and a Tr224/112 cam

500-500 rwhp is where things seem to go wrong. But you never know. There could of been an existing problem before. Also, depends on your tune.
There have been others on the board running 600+rwhp and no problems.

Chevychad If I can go roughly 30,000 before it goes I'll be happy.I have a beater to drive,so I wont drive it in the rain.I thought about going prcharger, but worried about water getting in.Is this common on procharger set ups?

Here is the recipe for disaster:
this + rain + this = this
If I had a stock hood this would not have happened. It is not common at all for a procharger setup to suck in water.

I should mention that I did upgrade the valvesprings to LS6 valvesprings and put in TSP pushrods while I was in there. I also changed to a 160 deg thermostat and had the tuner readjust the fans for that. Everything else on the block/heads is stock. It has a safe street tune for 92 octane. I am currently running 93 but had the tuner plan for 92 in case I get stuck with that on a roadtrip. The big thing to make the engine survive is the tune. That seems to be where a lot of people have their problems. I had 90k on the engine when the turbo's were installed. We'll see how she does!

There is a guy here with a 02 Camaro PTK kit on it, 76GTS, that made ~500 RWHP on a stock long block at 10lbs, (I rode with this guy and he is a NUT) he upped the boost to 12lbs and has been beating on it and so far so good, BUT it has a good tuner (Local NMCA turbo mustang racer) and is conservitive, IE ?12deg total timing?(dont quote me on that....)

We have two cars -
Supercharged GTO making 625rwhp
Turbo Z06 making 640rwhp (turned back down to 585)
They both run great on stock bottom ends....The tune is critical and you need to know that you are in a tricky position.
