Default Update on no boost issue!!

Ive a had a few threads on an issue ive had with my car building 10psi perfectly and then droping to 0psi at wot and even pulling a vacum.

I was on the dyno at straightline on friday, after many tests we decided to try to take the intercooler out of the loop. We built a crazy looking mess of tubes and silicon to bypass it and made a pull. No boost lost at all. Held steady at 13psi with no issues. We did a back up pull and it worked again.

Yesterday i took the IC out and found metal strands clogged in the inlet. I called the person i got the kit from and he said the person that had it before hiim had used some kind of mesh screen as and air filter or something and he thinks it got sucked in.

Anyway i have a new ic thats about twice as big and im mounting it the right way in the front bumper instead of infront of the condensor.

Cant wait to see what she does. At 5k with 190 ait, unlocked on mustang dyno it made 450hp and still pulling hard.

Thanks for everyones ideas

Alex.

Nice of him to tell you that now. Anyways, good find and it sounds like you're coming back stronger anyways. Let us know the results.

Imagine how much power you'll be making when you drop 100*F... Good find and sorry to hear about the douche bag you did business with didn't have the decency to tell you bout the clogged cooler... What kind of intercooler did you go with now??

Im not sure of the brand. Its 4inch thick and will fill inbetween both fog lights. Ill get the exact measurments this week. But its huge. The guy i bought the kit from is actually really cool. Hes buying me the intercooler. He think thats what could have possibly happened but wasnt sure.

I'm the guy who sold Alex the kit. I understand that people are going to jump to conclusions. I would probably say the same thing about me if I were to read this about someone else; but you guys can suck a dick anyway. You don't know me or my character and as Alex mentioned, I am paying for a new intercooler. I really don't understand how it worked on my car for two years with no problems until the day I took it off making 15psi with NO issues to speak of and then decides to take a **** but there it is. Regardless, I am taking responsibility for the damaged item and replacing the intercooler. If I had any intentions of screwing Alex over, I would have told him, "tough ****, sold as is." In fact, I have extended myself and talked to Alex literally dozens of times both before and after the boost issues answering questions and offering tech-support, which I didn't have to do. When Alex called me about the boost issue, the intercooler was the last thing I thought of, hell, it was the last thing any of him and his friends thought of too. We thought it was mechanical (engine), electrical (fuel or spark) or a tuning issue. The intercooler isn't a mechanical piece so there's nothing there to fail. The point is, if I knew it was the intercooler and I was going to end up paying for a new one anyway, why would I send him on a wild goose chase trying to figure it out for two weeks? I would have at least been nice enough to drop him a hint that he might want to check it. And if you really think about it, it sounds absurd that a little piece of screen would cause the intercooler to be completely blocked. Think about it, screen is meant to have air passed through it, it was clamped around the turbo inlet to keep large items out of the turbo in the first place. How does a 5" round piece of screen clog an entire intercooler enough to hold back 15 pounds of boost? Now that I think about it, it's impossible. Alex called me and told me that he bypassed the intercooler and it fixed the issue. He said there was some thin metal shreds inside of the intercooler and I really didn't think anything about it because I know the guy before me ran screen on the kit when it had a 60mm turbo on it. I'm the one who brought it up, not him, and I really didn't question it at the time. I was just relieved and glad for him that he found the problem. But it's retarded to think that I drove it on 15psi for two years and it was perfectly fine and then all of a sudden it's 100% clogged and won't even pass a fart. The intercooler must have a hole in it.... TBC.

SStolen is a good guy and in no way would try to f someone over. **** happens, and NOTHING is perfect with FI, period. I've learned that over the years... Just be glad you bought it from someone like SStolen, most sellers would give you the finger and you'd be doing your own thing. Glad you guys are working it out.

The whole IC thing doesnt make much sense to me either. But what i have to consider is that after test everything else for weeks i took the ic out of the loop and it worked perfectly. Also just the fact that there are pieces of metal in it cant be good for anything. Also when testing on the dyno, with ic in there if we keep it at wot after the boost goes away the iat goes up to about 210. Ive seen crazier things before but this one goes down it the books for sure. SSTOLEN is a great seller and i truly believe him when he says there were no problems with the kit when he had it. He has stood buy his parts 100%,and even though this has been a very frustrating problem he has helped out a lot.

That's great man, I'm just glad you guys are sorting it out. That kind of **** bothers me... trying to figure out where the boost went!!! Just drove my rig for the first time in a couple years boosted, sure miss it, and will miss the car when it's gone. Keep us posted!
