Default STS and longtube header question

I just purchased a STS kit and I was talking to the company that sold the kit to me and they told me that I didn't need to have my longtubes on the car anymore. They said that the LT's loose some heat on the way back to the turbo. My question is, do any of you guys have lts on with your sts kit or has anyone with the kit bought the lts and noticed a difference?

Do a search for STS and you'll find a ton of stuff on this. Basically they told you right. The loss of heat is a biggie with the STS so most people run stock manifolds and some use header wrap on their pipes back to the turbo.

I have LT's on my car and they suck with this turbo, you won't build full boost until about 4500rpms. A tad too high IMO lol
Get rid of your LT's and put stock manifolds on, stock catless Y pipe, and heat wrap it all the way back to the turbo.

i agree on the stock manifolds , but get rid of the stock y-pipe and get a no cat y-pipe like bassani has, i had the stock y-pipe on and it is very restrictive, with the bassani y-pipe it flows much better, feels like boost comes in quicker. didnt get to test it at the track due to winter being here . but i will run it next spring and see if it helps my times.

Get the DEI kit; it has the wrap, ss tie wraps, and a silicone spray to keep the wrap protected from the elements. Not sure which sponsor may carry it. A non-sponsor who's name ryhmes with plummet does carry it.

+1 on the rhyme, it's where I got my wrap kit from.

You really don't need the SS ties b/c they really don't work that well IMO. I used large hose clamps which are easier to re-use especially if you have to take it off for whatever reason!
