I'm trying to figure that out right now too. There's a lot of new options on the market right now. I'm thinking I'm just going to run a .040 cometic.

ya i have a 6 bolt gasket doing great so far.

i would be interested in those 'more than 3 layer' gm gaskets. i have not seen in person.

i dunno when the pn's for what i have will be available.. i would certainly think they would be by now. maybe they are waiting on my review.. lolz not

I'm going to call them monday unless there is a sponsor here who carries Fel-pro.

I only saw this on there site. Probably go with this if MM still has the only prototype.

The new GM MLS gaskets are 5 layers. I'm pretty sure Cablebandit is running them now.

For reference. here is a new 6.0 gasket. You can clearly see the waterway holes. 5.7 MLS is exactly the same.

MM....are your prototype gaskets readily available ? If I could get a set here in a week or so, I could give em a try when I rebuild too. Although I do ahve these regular 3 layers MLS here.

i dont work for em man sorry.

so why do head companies /oem cast all that water porting into the head if all it does is NOT match the gasket?

Where would I get a set ? or they not generally available yet ?

No idea...but most blocks/heads would seem to do the same. Big open castings, with the gasket restricting the flow.

My guess is just part of the casting process, easier to get the sand or whatever core out of there somehow. But yea its pretty weird they have those big holes cast in there and they are blocked off by the gasket.

The new AFRs I just received blocked off some of the holes between the cylinders but the new All Pros look pretty solid by getting rid of most of the big holes. Not sure how much it really helps but it sure looks stout if anything. These are what the new AFRs look like.
