Question allpro head question

about the water passages. When I first looked at my heads today I was surprised at the size of the water passages. While I was searching for info on these heads, before my purchase, I remember coming across a thread from MightyMouse with this picture.

my heads

Notice the difference right? Is this better or worse to have less water passages?

allpros are a semi dry deck design. thats how they are made, by having more material on the head it makes it stronger.

make sure the gasket holes line up with the head and let her rip. I GOT ETP HEADS BECAUSE THEY ARE THE SAME WAY...ITS got TO BE STRONGER WITH MORE MEAT THERE

Here's what mine look like for comparison:

Yours definitely look different. I talked to Bob at All Pro a bunch of times before I ordered mine. He mentioned the semi dry deck which is part of the reason I bought them. Only difference is mines going to be a nitrous motor.

He has been closing off the deck holes to strengthen the deck as newer revisions are done.

Why would it cause any problems ??

Have you compared the head deck, to a head gasket ? The holes in the gaskets arent really any bigger. Almost makes you wonder why all heads arent made like that.

I don't have any head gaskets yet. I'm not worried really, just interested to know why the change.

Good to know info here guys, thanks

I do....just checked them against my heads. I have both 5.7 and 6.0 gaskets here, and both of them have very small holes, just like your Allpro heads.
I would say the holes at the lifter gallery are the same as the head in yours. But the hole in the gasket at the outer face, is slightly larger in the gasket.

I ordered these 2 weeks ago directly from allpro. They cut the seats and installed guides too. I sent bob all my specs/goals before the purchase.

^ Kind of makes me wish I had ordered direct to get the newer versions. I ordered mine over ebay. They were only $925 shipped as bare castings so it was a really hard deal to pass up.

Me to brother, I found a set on ebay new that was a 62cc for $875. I called Bob and talked to him about purchasing them and the chamber size was the only issue why I wouldn't buy from the ebay seller.
I told that to the seller and then he said, he could have allpro cut new heads with the correct cc size and designed around my set-up. Everything including the seats and guides and installed was around $1200.00 through the ebay seller but, I talked directly to Bob. I was kinda hesitant at first but when I talked to allpro, I went for it. If I had more $$$ I would of got valves and springs included/installed. The heads were directly shipped from allpro to my door.

I thought it was a sweet deal, save my money for porting and other bells, whistles.

Yeah, I envy you if it makes you feel any better Mr. 9 sec daily driver

Aren't you using those 6bolt gaskets, MM? Fel-pro? Are they available yet? Where do I get them?

Mine are 64cc and came sealed in all pro boxes so I think they are a dealer or they were drop shipped.
