thanks guys, but the guy who i bought it from has not been on here since he responded saying that he did not have the money to respond or that he did not know it wasnt a gt47-88. I think he is going to give me the run around if anything but i know he probably wont address this problem so i guess i am probably out $1300.

I want to clear a few things up because there would appear to be some assumptions here that are not entirely accurate. First, I am the gent that sold the turbo to the guy (Marcus) that "Smokin87TA" bought it from. I bought it from another member that resides both here and on the Turbobuick.com forum. He assured me that it is in fact a GT4788 and he did make a touch over 1000-RWHP with it on a SBC in his (converted) GN. I am getting together a conference call to figure out what is going on here and to put all of this to rest. If something is legitimately wrong then I will make it right and then handle my purchase of the turbo but if this is something shady or simply a case of realizing after the fact that this turbo is too big for ones use then that is another matter. I decided not to use it simply because I have gotten out of building dedicated track cars and am sticking to "street" cars so I went with a PTS 76-mm. I am sending a copy of this thread link to the gent that I bought the turbo from and requesting that he get involved as he is also a member here. So before anyone goes assuming anything I believe this needs to be worked out among those of us involved.
To the originator of the thread, I am not sure how long it took for Marcus to answer your PM but FYI, I am waiting on parts myself and it has been several weeks now. I don't rush to the forum to create an issue without first trying to work it out in person. That is why I make sure to get phone numbers. I would certainly hope that no one is trying to pull a fast one on anyone else. We will get this resolved. Thank you.

Well thank you very much for posting up, believe me i am not looking to go smaller and trying to dump this off on someone, if i get this all straightened i am going to buy, fireball's gt47-88 that he has for sale. So its not like i am going to a 76mm i want a true gt47-88. The main concern is that the exhaust turbine housing is WAY to large for me to use. Yea it might make good power but will take forever to spool. I mean this thing has a 1.45 A/R which is huge, most guys making a ton of power still have .96 to 1.08 A/R's and still spool moderatly. This turbo would probably be a total dog out of the hole.

That turbo is a GT47-88mm, although it had some custom work / components done to it. I am the original owner of the turbo, and made 935 RWHP @ 21psi with my 358ci SBC in my GN 2 years ago with it. I am sure my screen name carries no weight on here, but on chitownracing.com, racingjunk.com, turbobuick.com, t6p.com, turbomustangs.com, etc. my screen name is Turbocliff. If you go on streetfire or youtube and type my name in, youll be able to see a video of the pull, and im pretty sure youll be able to recognize that very turbo on the car with the hood up.
Any other questions feel free to call me directly 630-774-5009, I sold it a year ago, and might not remember every detail as I've owned several large frame turbos since then, but BELIEVE me nobody is pulling the wool over your eyes. You have a BAD **** turbo in your hands, and to trade it for an off the shelf GT47-88 would be a shame.
Hope this is helpful-
Cliff

Also, as far as being a "dog" out of the hole with that exaust housing, I ran a DRC400 with a tight 3000 hipster converter (i do not recommend this converter at all), and went 1.40 60 foot leaving off of 1psi. I was unable to build boost after that, but it was not because of the turbo, it was because it spiked so hard it shattered the sprag in my converter, causing it to dead wall at 2400rpm on the t-brake.

I live in Schaumburg, by golf and roselle. Bring the turbo over sometime and i'll tell you if its a GT47. (unbiased, I am not doubting anyone on here, turbocliff, etc.) I will just help you either rest assured that it is a 47 or help you find out its not. I've seen more GT47's in my life than a normal human being. PM me if you want me to check it out.

the A/R is fine.. you actually have a HUGE motor for that tiny GT47 turbine. (flame suit on, but the GT47 is SMALL for a >400ci motor.)
Let me know if you need a bad *** convertor done specifically for this setup.. I know probably one of the best guys in the industry.
