Lightweight Balancer?

Default Lightweight Balancer?

does anybody know if there is a lightweight Balancer available for the LS1, maybe the outer ring made of aluminum, which is capable to a drive a Supercharger?

You can get one of the versions of the ATI Superdamper with an aluminum shell, but I'm not sure if I'd really want a lightweight part in a situation where you are driving a blower that will be putting extra stress on the snout of your engine. But that's just me...I worry a lot.

That is not a good match of parts.
If you call ATI for a balancer for your application, I'm sure they will want you
to use a steel shell unit for durability reasons.
An FI engine (especially supercharged) will need the reliability and strength of a proper steel shell balancer.
You will also need to buy their crank pin kit to help keep the balancer from
spinning on the crank under boost.
Give ATI a call, I found their techs to be very helpful.

I dont know but as much money as I have in my setup a few 100 more bucks is worth the insurance to me

def do not use an alum hub-i have seen a couple failures with those on superchargers-they cant take the extra force

Most of these guys are telling you the correct information which is you shouldn't run an aluminum hub that is going to drive any supercharger and especially an F1 if that is what you are looking at if you want the lightest one I would get one with a steel hub, and and aluminum shell and ATI sells them and will tell you just what I and some of these other guys have told you. If you use one of the others that you listed I don't think they will drive your S/C unless they are using the stock 6 rib belt to drive the S/C also which is not an ideal thing to use an underdrive pully to drive the S/C it won't make any boost and they don't have any keyways cut in them to keep them from spinning on the crank.

I routinely sell aluminum balancer/steel hub setups for supercharged applications. I can also get underdrive units to save you some additional weight & a few HP. I only deal with SFI approved ATI units. Feel free to give me a call 724-322-8505 & I'll hook you up with a good price.
