Ive narrowed it down to either the 414 longblock or either the procharger. I found a local seller who has one for 3k that i can get. I still think that it would be cheaper to go with the longblock in the end though. Any suggestions?

You still won't match the power of a stock LS1 with a ProCharger on it with just a larger cubic inch engine, unless you have a great set of cylinder heads. It would require a big cam, and the overall driveability is not going to be anywhere near that of what you would have if you installed an ATI ProCharger on a stock engine. Now if thinking of long term, where you want a foundation first, then a new long block would be worth considering. I would be very leery of something used, and that 3k price sounds a little scary.
This list may help you out some.

My engine had 110,000 miles on it when we added an ATI ProCharger D-1SC. We didn't change valvesprings or anything. http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...Car.php?car=12
It is shown here. Bob

I have the F1A option on this link, as well as our front mount intercooler kit.

Thanks. Bob

Would the F1a be overkill for a bolt on car for now? or a smart choice considering i will be building a iron 370 shortblock within the following year?

The only way to keep the boost down to keep alive a stock short block with an F1A is to have a one-off blower pulley made. For most people a 5.50" blower pulley would keep the boost down to where the engine will be in the 8 to 9 psi range. This is because the F series blowers have a 5.40/1 step up ratio, where the P and D series have a 4.10/1 ratio. Bob
