Default TT GTO Project

POST # 55 and 56 have more pictures

Well I blew up my F1C Procharger Head Unit over a year and a half ago now and I am finally back to working on the car again.

This was the first F series procharged GTO in the country... I loved the setup but felt like it was never going to go as fast as I wanted to go with room to grow even more. So I tore the whole car down after blowing up the F1C.

I tore the rear end and start the SRA conversion which at the time was the 3rd SRA conversion on a GTO, but many more have been done by shops now. Though mine was done in my garage with a couple of buddies...

Anyways here is a list of the setup and whats to come for the car along with pictures...

Engine:
Iron 408 9.0:1 compression- Callies lightened crank and much more
ETP 240cc Heads with the works
EDC Custom Grind Cam

Turbo Kit:
Twin GT42R turbos
Custom Twin Turbo Kit - Stainless Steel
JGS 50mm WGs
JGS 56mm BOVs
Twin A2W Intercoolers

Electronics:
TurboSmart E-Boost 2
Autometer Nexus Fuel PSI and Wideband A/F Gauges
Big Stuff 3
RacePak Dash

Fuel:
Weldon 2025
-10 Braided Feed Line
Speed Inc Black Fuel Rails
-8 Return Line
Aeromotive Pro Series Regulator
Pre and Post Filters

Transmission:
Built TH400 Short Tail
B+M Shifter
Transbrake
Precision 4400 Stall

Rear End:
Carbon Fiber Driveshaft
Moser 9" SRA
3.50 Gears
35 Spline Axles
BMR Torque Arm
BMR Lower Control Arms
BMR Panhard Rod
HAL QA1 Double Adjustable Coilovers
Custom Fabbed Brackets for Entire Rear End

Front Suspension:
STOCK
ARP Studs

Brakes:
Upgraded Rotors x4
Upgraded Pads x4
Upgraded SS Lines x4

Interior:
10Pt Custom Roll Cage
Corbeau FX1 Blk/Red Seats x2
Gutted Interior
4Pt Safety Harness
No AC
No Heat

So that is basically whats going into the car or what is already there. I may be leaving some stuff out, but I will update this section as I remember more.

September 14, 2007:

Car dropped off at shop, trailered the car in from Jax Thursday night.

The car is completely tore apart with only interior carpet, dash, door panels and a custom Moser 9" SRA in the car. Nothing else!!! The wheel well are still cut out and have yet to be welded back in after adding the additional space for the mini-tubs, the motor is out of the car, the TH400 is out of the car, and the interior is mostly guttted along with no front bumper on the car.

Pictures to follow...

This is how I dropped the car off...
The SRA conversion... complete other than the custom sway bar thats being made!

Interior loaded with boxes of parts...

Wheel wells opened up...

Empty engine bay...

Update: 10 - 17 - 07

The engine bay has been emptied of every accessory that we do not need along with all of the brake lines and all other lines. The main wiring harness will be coming out of the car next.

The engine bay is painted and the 408 is in the car along with the new solid motor mounts! Next step is getting the Twin GT42R turbos here and begin fabbing the manifolds up!

Now for the pictures...

Before cleaning/painting the engine bay...

After paint...

Solid Motor Mounts...

Just a small update. Here's a picture of the new custom radiator. They did a real nice job on it. We needed something that was a bit shorter so we could put in our intercoolers.

Here's a picture of the radiator in the car. We need to make some custom brackets for it.

here's a pic of the radiator next to the stock one. It's quite shorter.

We had the rear end narrowed and we got it back in the car. The deeper wheels looks cool. These are the "street" tires. 325/50/15 radials.

Finally got around to cleaning up and painting the rear end and components...

Here is the IC in its fabrication stages... It was 2 intercoolers, we cut the endtanks of each and welded a single midtank so there is one pipe going to the TB. A2W obviously!

The twins that are going to make it all happen... GT42Rs... MMMM

And another better picture of the new short radiator!

Well I spent the last year and a half acquiring parts for the build and just started the build around September! So its not like I bought everything at once. I do have all of the MAJOR parts though, so no more big money expenses on parts... by big money I mean 2k plus! Other than my Bogarts and slick set for the track!

Thats badass man I'm sure it'll be a blast once it's done. Looks like a nice collection of good parts thatll work well together. Only thing I'm wondering about is taht 4400 converter. Better be a VERY tight 4400 with those turbos and the torque they're gonna be making.

It worked great on the F1C Procharger... but I can send it back to Precision and get it restalled for free so its no biggie, we will just have to wait and see if we need to make the change or not
