Honestly, to answer that right now, we would have no clue. Only time will tell with the huge stress of racing it. If we bang a cylinder, rip it out and slap a new liner in, top fuel style

We have used both the World Products Warhawk block and the LSX block, both our built tough. We do like the way World Products incorporated the additional two head bolt holes, they look much stronger. Bob

I don't know the weight difference off hand. I'm going to guess that it is 100 or so pounds.
If you're looking at pushing past 1000 rwhp then these blocks should be looked at. Bob

A 3.90" bore LSX weighs 225lbs....so some weight would be removed if it was bored to say 4.125" (possibly 15-20lbs) so guess 205lbs.

Warhawk block weighs 133 lbs.

~ 72 lb penalty for the LSX block. But it's built like a tank.

Looking good!!

Yes, that is what we are shooting for. The new chassis is being built, the Warhawk block will soon be on it's way, a lot to do in the next couple of months! It is going to be a busy year coming up for us! Bob

One consideration you may want to look into, World LS7 heads are setup for a head porter, so you may tie up considerable funds in having them ported.

ETP can make their heads with warhawk bolt pattern.

Would it be possible to weld the extra material onto an LS1 / LS2 or even a 6.0 truck block...then drill the holes and helicoil it? Would be a way cheaper alternative to an aftermarket block if you allready had the block the welder and the materials...

It has been done before, the block is still going to not be as strong as these newer blocks, as they are beefier all the way around. Bob

Cool, Im not so much worried about block strength as Im worried about blowing gaskets / pushing a ton of water.

You like the world products bolt locations?? The lsx top boss is closer to the cylinder and keeps material around the lifters. Not to mention the bolt on the world setup that goes through the intake runner! I like both blocks but i dont see how the bolt locations look better on the world block.

I'm just waiting to see if GM releases an aluminum version of the LSX. Warhawk is a nice looking block and if you need 6 bolt aluminum right now you have little choice.

But IMO at those power levels I would be having an extra set of motor plates made up for a BBC Bob

I'd be interesting in seeing the thermal affects of welding on aluminum and the resulting possible distortion.

We decided to use All Pro heads on our build, they're building them to our spec's since we will be running on alcohol. Bob
