454 Whipple supercharger on 496 Vortec???
Hello guys
A friend offered me to buy a 454 Whipple supercharger for 1996-2001 454(Vortec?)
It will not bolt right on as the blower outlet is for engines who got the throttle body on the left side otherwise than the 496 Vortec who got the throttle body in the front.
Despite the fact that it would work with some tubing and work.
Any opinion?
A supercharger is expensive and I would get it for cheap.
Thanks Hannes

This is the supercharger you are talking about.
I'm not sure how well you could make it work but the first thing that came to mind was a pipe that comes out the supercharger. Then, up and over the manifold and to the front of the radiator. Then through an intercooler and back to the throttlebody. A little complicated but not really hard to do if you have the skill. I'm not sure if the whipple would bolt up to the 496 or even if the pulleys would line up.
If you decide to scratch the idea I would appriciate the 411 on the whipple, I might be interested in purchasing it.

Hi XXXSilveradoXXX
Looks like you cought me.
This is exactly what I mean if you understand...
I had the same idea until the intercooler as I dont really know how something like that works and looks.
As soon as I cancel the idea I come in touch. Send me your mail and I write you immediately. Send it to bow-tie@gmx.at
Thanks Hannes
Ps.: Qestion, looks like you know about that charger, does it need no computer?

This is what an intercooler looks like.
An intercooler is an air-to-air heat exchange device used on turbocharged and supercharged engines to improve their volumetric efficiency by increasing intake air charge density through isochoric cooling. A decrease in air intake temperature provides a denser intake charge to the engine and allows more air and fuel to be combusted per engine cycle, increasing the output of the engine.
I don't think the supercharger needs a new computer but I'm not sure. All the Whipple kits that I know of come with a little handheld tuner, kinda like the hypertech ones.
My E-Mail is fusion10@hotmail.com I will also send it to your E-Mail as requested.
Good luck!
