Default Blow Bye or Blown Head Gasket?

OK so i pulled the valve covers today and replaced the vlave cover gasket. First off the gasket looked fine. I don't think this was the isue to begin with. I'm going to verify tomorrow but it looks like the oil is coming from somewhere else.

In case you missed my other post I'm having oil sprayed on the back firewall right behind the driver's side fuel rail. I originally thought it was a blown valve cover gasket, but that doesn't seem to be the issue.

So talking to a friend with a lot of Stang blower experience, he suspects it's eith blow bye(crack in the intake manifold) or a blown head gasket.

Do you guys have any advice you can lend on this situation? Is it more likely blow bye or blown head gasket? Is there a way I can tell without ripping the motor apart?

I'm looking for my options? Just so you know I'm not seeing very much power from this blower. Maybe 40 rwhp and I've been seeing up to 6psi of boost. I'm thinking these issues might be innerrelated.

Could there be other issues I'm not seeing?

Thanks for any and all advice and info you can shed on this subject.

Mike

do you have any air tubes/egr stuff still on?

take the manifold off and inspect it and the area there for leaks, that way you get a better veiw.

Well I still have no idea what the problem is, but A cracked intake manifold has nothing to do with blow by. Maybe a cracked lower intake on a stang will leak oil since that seals the lifter valley I think, but our engine has a valley cover under the intake. There is no oil in contact with our manifold. And I thought blow by was air blowing past the rings during combustion. I hope it's not a head gasket, that looks like a lot of work. Maybe a chance for a head swap and new pulley??

OK I figured it out. My intake was mising a bolt in the back. Oil was travelling up the bolt hole and spraying all over the back of the engine. I bought a new bolt and ran her hard a few times and no more oil! :-D I'm not sure why oil is travelling through that bolt hole, but whatever the reason, it's fixed now.

Thanks for the help guys,
Mike
