Default Cooling Fans - Hot hot hot

Does anyone know the stock CFM rating of the radiator fans? My intercooler sits in front of the AC Rad and seems to be causing problems with my engine cooling. The QMP single turbo kit mounts the intercooler in-front of the AC rad which is in front of the cooling rad. The intercooler stays cool but everything else gets hot. I am thinking of more powerful fans but I would like to know where the stock ones are rated at first.

Another question is has anyone else with a front mounted intercooler had cooling problems? my car runs between 215-225 in this summer weather, which I think is on the hot side.

I have a 160 thermo and the fans are currently set to come on at 165. The rad is stock and I'm not going to toss the AC.

Any info or websites would be appreciated

Paul

There are a few running the CAS high capacity radiator, its almost 4"...

I'm running a big Spal 16" single fan, 2700 CFM's is pushes....that thing can cool..

I will see how it works on my supercharged iron block car...

Stock fans and shroud flow 3500 plus CFM. You wont find anything better...

Need to adjust fan speed (both on at same time at high speed) and have them come on at 170 off at 160)

Cheers,
Chris

Thanks Chris,

That was the answer I was looking for. I am going to go with a larger capacity rad and maybe an oil cooler.

Good stuff

I think a little work on evacuating hot air from under the hood will help too.

Oh and Paul do me favor Get Wade to throw a 3 inch cutout on your car. It is going to be worth AT LEAST 20-35+ RWHP in your application trust me

Cheers,
Chris

hey Paul,

I'm having the same problem, my turbo kit has the IC right in front of the radiator. Do you have any gap at all between the rad and the IC? I have the 6.0l iron block and it gets hotter then I'd like.

Gotta get some air to the rad without it blocked by the intercooler. I just don't like all that heat in front of the rad then blocking flow as well.

There is about a 1" gap between the IC and AC rad. I would like to move the IC forward and up but there is no space, it already touches the hood latch slightly. I thought I might have a problem with the condition of my cooling system but that does not seem to be the problem after hearing that I am not the only one with this problem.

That seems to be the problem; Cool air flows through the IC and gets heated, then it has to go through the AC rad, heated again and finally the rad gets anemic warm air. I think any flow the rad gets is weak at best and not enough to cool the system. The turbo IC blockage over the rad combined with the location of the turbo overpowers the whole system and the front end doesn't seem to be able to get rid of the heat.

I'm not sure a high capacity rad will fix the problem but I guess I'm willing to try it just seems like a lot of money for something that might help.
