heyzeus!! i never knew a turbo looked so fucked up! doesnt look like u can just put one in in a weekend or after ur engine is built. or am i wrong, is it easier than i thought?

i want a turbo for the fact that i can turn off the boost when im not proving anything lol. and maybe get some better mpg

To say the least

It is definitely not a weekend install, even with some of today's high quality kits.

Also you never "turn off the boost." Boost depends on exhaust volume and intake restriction. The latter is pretty universal, so boost roughly depends on exhaust volume. So basically, the more throttle you give it, the earlier and more boost you will get. The only way not to have any boost is to not give it much throttle, say under half. It isn't as on/off as you think, it is very dynamic. At idle you'll have stock vacuum, at half throttle you may have very little vacuum, 3/4 throttle might give you a few psi, and full throttle will give you full boost. It's constantly changing.

Also, you will notice a drop in gas mileage with a turbocharger because of the exhaust restriction it poses. How much depends on the application, I'd say in the ball park of 2-4mpg.

thats not always true. 2-4 mpg is way off base for most "bolt on" kits. unless u cant keep ur foot out of it.

Still undecided on the cubes - thinking small like 420-430ish range...LSX block.

That is with the same driving done before the kit. Turbochargers cost power, whether they are on boost or not. And the 2-4 of course isn't exact or universal, it's merely an educated guess. But you will see a drop in both city and highway gas mileage with a turbo kit. It won't be a huge amount, and certainly worth the gain IMO, but there will be a drop.

They don't burn today's V8s stock, in fact it takes a pretty stout turbo 4 to walk on a stock LSX. Not that it isn't possible of course, but the LSX raised the bar yet again. The Eclipse/Talon turbo cars would need to gain about 100hp before they are even close. And his mpg wouldn't be exactly that of the normally aspirated car, but it isn't too far off.

I absolutely love those valve covers, I'm using the same ones (Except polished) on my 406 SBC. Beautiful, yet expensive.
