If you have an auto trans, most just tie it in with the trans brake switch on the shifter.
This way you don't have multiple buttons to deal with.

This is funny, I was just looking at mine last night. I've got the Harlan 2 step. It has an activation input, and a hold input. You press the clutch and hit the activation switch ( externally mounted switch,ie. shifter handle or dash mounted). As long and the clutch is in ( closing the hold input, clutch switch activated ) the 2 step is on. When you release the clutch at launch, the 2 step is deactivated. Connecting like this would ensure the 2 step doesn't reactivate while shifting. Other 2 steps would probably have this function as well. You could also operate it from just a N/O switch, like the shifter **** button, but that's a lot of coordinating on the launch. Then you still have to worry about the 2 step activating between shifts, unless you're brave enough to power shift. NO CLUTCH CAPTAIN!!

I've always tied the wires together so they were on or off. I have never had a problem being the clutch switch is completely on the ground. I can't think of any circumstance that it would really bother anything.

The Synergy 2-step works the same way the harlan one does.
