Default Getting a total of 8psi out of the 8 rib pulley setup..

I'm currently running a ASP 7.85" 8 rib crank pulley....and a 3.60" Reichard Racing Blower pulley...
This setup on my 372 9:1 6.0L Iron Block motor is making a total of 8psi, and doesn't climb throughout the RPM, so with that, I need to go to a smaller blower pulley....

Any ideas...

These pulleys are expensive, so I want to get as close as possible...

Thanks,
Bos

Bos - If you're shooting for 12psi a 3.2" pulley is probably what you'll need. It seems every .2" drop in pulley size is good for around 2psi of boost.

Are you sure the belt isn't slipping though? It sounds like it might be since the boost hits a peak and doesn't rise anymore. Drive it for a while like that and look at the belt and blower bracket. If it's covered with black dust after a few thousand miles than you know the belts slipping.

How's 8psi feel on that 372ci motor?

John

[/quote] Agreed, only I think if driven hard for a couple hundred miles the belt dust will show up.Mine would have a bunch of dust on the front of the bracket after several WOT bonzi runs.IMO test the car for slippage before ordering another pricey pulley.Good luck

Yeah, you're right ARE422DP. I used to drive my car so much that a couple thousand miles went by in no time.

What kind of power is that thing making on the rollers ?even with the 8psi?
I'm curious a have a similar setup i am doing but with a different cam i'm going with a fms F7 cam 224"/230" .587"/.593" 114LSA just curious what kind of numbers i'll be puttin down
Someones gotta come out with a bolt on cog setup for these ati kits
I'm sure they could make some money doing it
Now i gotta figure out what to do about my crappy 6 rib setup need to upgrade to a 8rib for sure

Jim - Call up ASP. They can make any pulley setup you can dream up.

Just do a search through Yahoo or something for ASP and pulley. I don't know the address off hand.

Well I called RR, I'm going to try a 3.3" pulley, cause RR has them in stock, so it will be at the shop on monday, and I need a new belt from ASP so I'm ordering that tomorrow or getting it through NAPA...but at 8psi...

470rwhp

And some where over 600rwtq, I didn't get the official # on it....

So we will see how the smaller pulley does, I want somewhere well over 500rwhp at least...

But I'm going to take the car home for this weekend so I can drive it to see how the belt wears...

The dyno was also through a TH400 with a non locking 3500 converter, through the Moser 12bolt on 27x11.5x15 Hoosier QTP's...and it was about 100 degrees in the shop....

Bos, Im glad I could be of some help today. The car is making good power, remember Im making 600 rwhp at 15 psi through a T400 with a 4000 stall and a built 346 so you are right there at 8 psi. Give me a ring tomorrow, ill be talking to Jimmy in the morning about my innercooler.

I think there might be some slippin happenin also. That no boost climb means it's:
a)leaking boost
b)slipping
c)The engine airflow ability increases with rpm to the same amount that blower airflow increases, which I don't think is happening, that's like exponential ****.

But even so, 600rwtq is a lot.

I found out the belt was pretty tight, but anyways I'm gonna go pick it up in about an hour and put some miles on it this weekend to see how the wear is..

I got a 3.3" Pulley from Reichard Racing on order....

I had the car out today....tore up the FLP clamps with the iron block setup with the HALS w/coilovers in the front...the HALs were at 6 I think and I hit a dip in the road, an BANG! took out the 2 front clamps....so I have to drop more money on garbage clamps....

did you properly wear in the belt upon intial setup?

you have to keep the belt fairly LOOSE and run it through the RPMs a little bit, and do that for about 5 min or so.

then

tighten down the belt
