Default Max rpm without drysump?

What is the safe rpm with ported blueprinted oilpump?

I think i have to rev high with my setup.

Iron block with stock crank, and eagle rods(L19) and wiseco pistons (tool pin upgrade).
Clevite P bearings.
LS7 lifters.
Texas speed valvetrainkit.
248/252 cam.
Victor jr intake.
New stainless manley valves.
S480 turbo and E85.

Thanks,

It's not the pump...it's the pan and pick up location. kp has proven 7000rpm is fine if you know what you're doing. Others have run in the high 7's with a wet sump. Some will say anything over 6800 is questionable....take your pick.

I also have Moroso oilpan and sump made for Camaro 67-69.

I think this camshaft have peak hp over 7000 rpm.
They write 6800 peak with big cubic, i only have 6.0lit.

We will see in a couple of weeks when i have the engine on the enginedyno..

Mine sees 7300rpm through the traps fairly regular, I close my eyes after 7200 though. I would think 7500 max with a good pan and restricted pushrods wouldnt be a problem with good connecting rods. Really depends on how long you are planning to run at those RPM, you can get away with a lot more on a drag race car than a road race car..

7500 rpm only on the drag strip.
7000 in the street is what i planned, and only 8 psi on the street...

I seem to shift all my stuff at 7000. I've shifted stuff up to 7200 probably.

Sounds great guys.
I will put up vid and dyno graphs on backpressure and everything when it´s dynoed. It will be dynoed on E85 with intercooler, and if the 80mm turbo isn´t enough we have a S491 that i can test also!

I have been told that with a Solid Valvetrain and a larger pan or accusump 8500rpm is about as high as you want to take the motor since the direct drive oil pump will really start to hurt itself at that point along with possibly starving the pickup.

I spun my old hydr. LS2 motor 7800 with stock pan and an accumulator. Run restricted pushrods and don't stand on the brakes at the end of the track.

Not trying to hijack but this is in the same line of questioning with rpms. At what rpm would you say ti and inconel valves come into play? Are they necessary?

For what it is worth, I have been turning mine to 7500 for the past two years. Every day driver. I take it to 7500 at least 2 times a week on average when I am just driving. All race season I turn it to that as well. I now have a total of 77000 miles on the engine. I do make sure the level is full before I go and play though. Also I have be squeezing 150 shot on top of it ever since the car ran out of its 36000 mile warrenty. My short block has never been into except a cam swap, pushrods for the cam, double roller timing chain, and valve springs for the cam swap. Original oil pump as well. I have never had any noticable issues. Thats not to say I am not worried about it. I have calmed down with it this winter. I will be pulling the engine out before summer to install the new 408. If I can remember I will check the bearings and give a report back.
All that said, with my luck I will spin a bearing in the new engine at 4000 rpm.

Ported 6.0 heads with 2.1/1.6 valves.
CR is 9.2 and i´m running E85.
Those new 5-layer MLS with special glue between all layers, we do so on all import engines we build to make them hold.

Regards,

Special glue? It keeps the heads from lifting?

It seals all layers together. The problem is that it blows compression between the layers inte the cooling system at high cylinder pressure...

Inconel is actually VERY VERY heavy, but has a much higher melting point than SS or Ti.

Valve Selection comes into play with spring and cam selection.
