Thumbs up LT1 F-body inlet air tube assembly

For those that haven't seen this, this replaces the old dryer ducting that the kit came with several years ago. The Procharger kit now comes this way.

I attached a couple of pics of what it looks like on my car. As you will see, I'm keeping my MAF down below, the new procharger kits have it above(blow through design).

Thanks for the pictures Jon! This is the first time I have seen how they fit with aftermarket K-members.... LOTS more room than with the stocker!

Hmm... looks nice

How does tuning differ when doing a draw thru opposed to the blow through seen more commonly?? Pros? Cons?

My car hasn't had many miles on it since the turbo install. So still looking at options. Looks like Megasquirt is the best option...

sorry bout the hijack

I am planning on fabbing up a really light weight 4inch aluminum 90 degree elbow setup for mine. Have you ran it on the dyno without the inlet???

I talked to Ponyhntr about this very same topic...the blow through is easier to tune because you don't have the bypass air going against the MAF. I have had draw thru since 02 and haven't had a problem.

No, we will dyno this again but it will be going thru a filter.

That's the way to do it. You'll pick up 2-3psi easy. I ditched the Procharger inlet because I'd collaspe it w/out question. Soon as I get back to the states I'll have the remainder of my inlet done in 4" aluminum w/ a velocity stack to hopefully squeeze another psi or 2 if possible.

Jon, I would consider the type SRZ posted, as I also have it on my car. I used to have the hard plastic inlet like you, and gained an additional 3-4#'s of boost by going with the fabbed up metal inlet.

All together between the metal inlet tube and a larger air filter I gained a total of 6#'s of boost over the hard plastic inlet tube with the smaller filter, and more than 100 RWHP.

This is all assuming that you want more boost though. I am not sure on your HP intentions.

I'm running the plastic inlet tube and making 14#'s at 5000 rpm with an F1A, spinning it slow. I don't see it as being a restriction! In fact, it flows BETTER than the old 4" 'dryer' duct ATI used to supply.

There's no doubt it will flow better than the previously designed dryer duct.

Damn Ponyhntr that's impressive. Put a hard hat on there and see what it picks up.

I don't need any more boost! It's on it's way to making 18+ psi, and I'm on PUMP gas!

I'm not opposed to giving it a try...I'll have to see what this does for me. I'm already at 9 lbs of boost with the old dryer ducting and don't need to go any higher with the stock engine, I just like the way this looks.

I'll be spinning the motor to 6500-6800. 50/50 water/meth, NO Intercooler.
