LOL, I guess I deserve that but if you listen to my reasoning really its not. There is obviously a reason why allot of shops reccommend 8.5-8.9 as you had mentioned. I wanted 8.5 the whole time and is what my builder told me too. I just was pursuaded along the line, learning here my friend. For the street on pump I really don't think you can beat 8.5 or close to IMO, LOL Obviously depends on the setup as a WHOLE and everyone's goals and use's are different. Like you for example with a dual nozzle meth kit changes things. Good luck with your build and let me know how it works out and in comparison with your last one as well. Thanks for your help too, or your misguidance I should say, LOL Just joking I am thinking about a mid-sized reverse split now if that makes you happy, LOL

8.5 will be nice, no doubt. It should give you a little more peace of mind if you turn the wick up!!! As always, I will bump my build threads as I have more pics/news.

glad to hear you are gonna run the stock crank!! More revs= more power in my book. Keep the cam conservative you will still make the power you want. With your setup I believe the 370 will be the better motor than the 402 you were going with.

Thanks, I agree on the 370. Its not stock though, I could have probably got away with one but got a smokin deal on a new callies dragonslayer 3.622 and why not. So now I need to sell my callies 4.0 dragonslayer. Haven't tore it down yet, so I am hoping my builder will have it done by the end of the month and I will start to tear down my ride. I hope to have it on the road by early april the latest but who knows. As for the cam, I ended up getting a custom cam by comp, 224/230 .595/.605 114+2 LSA which I think will work great.

I am still exploring options on the rear. Either moser 9'' out of the box or I am really leaning towards a fabbed 9'' from Midwest. I am hung up on the spool though and thinking about taking my chances with a truetrac. I've heard of many with a 9'' not a 12 bolt, holding some serious power at the track. Mine won't see a whole lot of track so it does look encouraging. I've never driven in a spooled car so I am unsure and don't really want to limit driveability on the street. Also thinking about 3.25 gears and no bigger than 3.50's for sure.

Other than that, need to order some suspension parts and a few things for the swap. My 4l80e is being built right now as well. So its coming together, as most, I will take a bunch of pics and post when time comes. As of now its hurry up and wait.

Spending most of my time researching on what to get for parts. Like balancer, motor mounts, etc. Can't really justify the ATI one and was going to use the stock balancer but leaning towars the SFI powerforce, I think speedinc caries it. Thinking about solid motor mounts and polly trans mount but heard about the car rattling bad and for a streer car that would suck and get old fast. Other things too like PCV/breather system, which wideband is best, boost controller, etc. Any sugestions out there if someone reads this? I may have to start another thread but trying to search as much as possible, LOL

For a wideband I like the autometer, but there are others that are real good also it is all your personal opinion.

I almost bought one but deal fell through, I was under the impression that the Aem one is good as well plus its reasonably priced.

I think I might go with a manual boost controller too, I think it'll mostly be on one setting other than the track. Might go with a dual stage in-cab one for a bit more conveinance. The electric ones are so pricy too. Anyone using one as there boost gague too or is it not that acurate? I am trying to get away from having to put gagues in my a/c vents.

I am running an AEM tru boost that doubles as my boost gauge and it works fine for what I use it for. Very user friendly and fits in the gauge pod. Got it on e bay for only 255.00.

Thats funny b/c thats the one I was looking at too on ebay. However, I think I may stick with my plan and go with a mechanical boost gauge and manual boost controller. I also want a electric trans temp so its looking like I have to put one in my vent. I don't really use the a/c anyways but didn't want to do this. Either way the electronic controller doesn't help with the only 3 gague thing, lol

I run the tru boost and a mechanical auto meter Z series guage. Z series looks closest to oem IMO.

I'll have to check out the Z series, I was looking at the pro comp series and really like those black face ones. Would match up fairly close to the AEM too. I am thinking either the Halman Pro manual or AEM truboost. I am really diggin the features from an electronic controller but not sure if I can justify oitherwise being I'll most likely stay on one setting 95% of the time and turn it up at the track only.

How would that manual compare to spool to the truboost? I've run the hallman before and liked it but a pain for adjusting under the hood. I guess you could always run a vaccum line in-cab but would that much line effect its performance. For me I am not sure the electric controller is really needed but if it makes that much difference I'll go for it. I'd love it for its features alone, nevermind its convienence.

After reading this thread I'm sure now that my 214/220 .600/.523 115 LSA cam is too small for my 383ci 9.2:1 motor, what do you think? Should I also get some 228/232?

Nope you don't need a donkey dink cam for FI, that will work great and off boost power will be great, thus will be driveabilty as well. Run it and see, you can always go bigger later if needed but don't let the bigger is better get you on this one. A bit bigger might be nice but that will suffice if not going for all out power, why when you'll make gobs either way. Plus now it will be fun to drive in all conditions too!

You can mount the gauge in the vent and keep the vent functional. Notch an Autometer angled trim ring to slide into the vents, epoxy i place, cut the center of the vent fins w/ a dremel.....and that's it.

Did this on a friends car and it came out well. Doing the same to my car this week. Will post pics when I finish it if you're interested.
