Default hiding a front mount

is there anyway to hide a front mount intercooler, I just got a 01 ws6 with a d1sc procharger and it has a big front mount intercooler so the front plate holder is gone and the fog lights to let airflow to it, problem is I live in a state where you have to have a front plate. Is there a way to mount the plate back up and still get enough air through the cooler??? I was thinking of fabing up some aluminum to direct the air through the fog light holes through the intercooler but will that be enough????

Just put the plate up on your dashboard. I too live in a state where a front plate is required. I have never been pulled over for no front plate and even got a speeding ticket 3 days ago and the cop didn't say anything. Really, i'm staying without the front plate until I get a ticket for it.

I have seen some on here that have mounted there plate to either side of the opening for the intercooler. You could try putting it on your dash. Really just depends on the how **** the cops are in your area.

To hide it, you can lightly spray it with Eastwood Radiator Black. It really helps make it disappear and won't hurt its efficiency.

exactly mount it horizontal. That how the hi-flo kits were designed and there is a post floating around here in the last ten days with excellent pics of the whole install on a TA.

I have a large FMIC on my car, and it works well but you'd never be able to tell that by looking at it.

What I successfully did was cut out the area behind my foglights, and then I fabbed up a metal sheet that directed air from underneath the front bumper to the FMIC. It isn't as efficient as having the gaping hole in the front bumper like some do, however it still works as my IAT's are nice and cool. Granted my Camaro fron end is a much different design than your WS6, but you should be able to do the same concept with the plate underneath as I did.

I powder coated the one on my GSR. IAT temps were just fine @ 18psi so I dont think it effects it as much as people think

It depends on how much you are in need of controlling your IAT's to keep you away from detonation. Mine works just fine with just a little air from the fogs, and more directed air from below. Again, this will not work as well as having a gaping hole would, but it will work. If you need more, methanol injection is an excellent way to help things as well. Some people just go with meth and no inetercooler, however running both is most effecient.

BTW, if you want more pictures, I can post them, but since I don't have a gaping hole in my bumper, theres not a whole lot to really see.

I will be running the same set-up you are and I also live in a state where you must display a front plate. I was planning on bending my plate over just so the numbers are showing and maybe even drilling a couple holes in it where the dash is between the numbers and then mounting it to my intercooler. I dont know if the locals will give you a problem with this. Technically you are still displaying a plate and it is readable

The car was designed to get all the air from under the bumper.

Hint: that is why there is a big plastic flap under the car. It might not be as good as a huge hole cut out of the grill, but it works just fine for most people. It looks a lot better also.

All you can see, on my setup, is a little bit of the corners. I am sure it will work the same on a TA.

or you can find someone that has their twin 4.5 intercoolers that want to switch to a large fromt mount and just swap them and you will be able to hide evrything. just a thought.

I have mine mounted a little farther back so I still have my fog lights and I can put my front plate back in for that stealthy look but 99% of the time I leave the plate off
