Default Can you use 317 casting heads on a 3.90 bore LS1 motor?

I read in another thread that you can't run them because the valves are spread further apart (???). I was under the impression they just had a bigger combustion chamber and valve spacing and clearance was the same as LS1 heads. Thanks

Tons of people do it. Whoever said they wouldn't fit is wrong.

yes use the 4.0 gasket for a 4" bore head
i am using the 317 heads on my 3.905" bore ls1
you cannot use the l92 heads on a 3.9" engine, you have to use them on a 4.0" bore or larger. (you might be thinking those heads that you cant use)

My mistake. He did say L92 heads. But I am glad I asked because of the gasket requirement. Thanks

Nope. L92 heads require at least a 4.00" bore cylinder.
