not many people know about it. our cars (ls1's) like the viscosity rating around a 14.3 or so... mobil 1 5w-30 is lower than that.. tufoil is higher and has other benefits.. so my dad and i have been mixing it in with all of our oil in all of our car to get different viscosity ratings since 30years ago

Anyone using the joe gibbs oil . I was thinking of using the regular joe gibbs or rotella . I heard that they took the "good stuff "(whatever additeves they removed ) out of rotella now too . Anyone wlse hear that too
Anyone have issues with the rotella coking up the turbo or would that just be form lack of maitnance and/or excessive heat
Saw this in a diffrent thread when I searched this is wexatly what I am talking about

i know you could most likely care less about my opinions but a lot of engine builders like staying with a mineral based oil and run castrol gtx 10w30 (weight depending on clearences). especially on turbo apps, because it seems to hold up better than most against thermal breakdown, many others will continue to run the shell rotella because of the zinc attitives in the oil that helps prevent the oil from breaking down due to oil contaminents such as cylinder washdown and unevacuated fuel vapor and such. unfortunatly shell rotella(if not already) will no longer be able to use zinc as an additive because the EPA was finally able to get there crappy little hands on them. (they were the last manufacturer to be alowed to use zinc) ask any semi driver and they most likely were using shell rotella, that should tell you what a great product it was especially considering how much washdown deisels have. there are some that are not on the synthetic bandwagon yet because of the amount of solids that are in these oils. just my .02 if its worth anything to you.

I tried mobil1 but had issues after beating on mine that the oil press would drop below 20 psi. I put in the Rotella and it never goes below 30 now. After my breakin I'll be using the synthetic version which I have run in my diesel Jetta for 225000 miles with out any issues(knocks on wood).

Well I never put it on the dyno....but i posted a few videos. Beat a STS GTO pushin 515whp by about 5 cars when i was only running 12-14psi. The only problem with the STS kit is even the biggest turbo they offer is undersized for a 408...if you want to reach its full potential.
I have since gotten rid of my kit and swapped in a "bigger" cam. Just running all motor now with a little help from the bottle when i need it haha.
Next step is to bump the compression up...8.2:1 isn't all that great for an N/A set up! HAHAHA
