SD is the correct way to tune a boosted motor. Retaining a MAF can work, as long as it continues to read.
But if the MAF gets maxed out, then that does leave lots of compromises, and potential risks.

Tuning/testing on the dyno in a controlled enviroment for WOT would be fine though, as at least you can keep a good eye on things.

Maxing out any sensors and going beyond them on a road/race car, is risky. Whether it be maxing out a MAF, or maxing out a MAP sensor and tuning on regardless, although the former carrys more risks.

UPDATE

We made 912 rwtq and 910 rwhp-cam is peaking too early-like 5800-gonna retard it.

As far as the MAF-HPT has too many flaws for the C5 guys-when they get it sorted out then maybe. FWIW-I ran 10.4 stock short with MAF, 9.6 with a 346 stock MAF-It didn't require much tweaking-no more than a SD car would require. LPE has no issues with the MAF in it's big setups?

I agree with the above statement and for the "A/F variations with weather changes when the maf is maxed out??" I have checked my cars A/F from the heat of the summer to the cold of winter and yes it did change a little, but no more than a SD tune would of......

There are glitches with SD tuning in the boosted Corvettes.
