Default efficient airflow hp through a 2.5" discharge to intake

some intercoolers i'm looking at for my truck only have 2.5" tube ports, and honestly as smashed agaisnt the radiator as the engine will be, 2.5 is more convenient.. but in general I don't see really anyone rocking 2.5" tubing up to the throttlebody.

i also know that the scroll out of a turbo, even say a 76mm as i am using, is not really much more than 2.5.

obviously it can 'work', but i don't want to be taking a large hit on efficiency say at the 700 fw horse level.

thanks.

I have talked with several people about some of these same issues and get different info from them all, but most say you need atleast a 3". I am the same my orange car has 2.75in and out and it works well so don't know what to tell you for sure David GL maybe someone with a real engineering knowledge will respond or ever more real world experience.

My thought on this, is that the hotter air before the IC needs the bigger pipe. Once the air is cooled down through the IC, a smaller pipe should be ok. Don't know how much less room the air needs though... May not be enough difference to matter. Somebody good with thermal dyn. could probably run the numbers. For example, assuming 160F into the IC and 85F out.

I like the larger pipe overall, just because of all the bends getting into and out of the IC.

LOL! Yeah I don't think you will have a problem with your power goals just don't know how efficient it will be is all I was trying to say.
