Default Anyone looking for a FAST system? Possible GP???

I'm about to order a FAST system and I might be able to get slight discounts for folks.

If you have no idea what this stuff costs, here is a rundown...

FAST pcm, wideband, standalone harness all ~$2500. Add extra for the Cartek crank trigger box or your own custom solution to make the crank sensor work.

This stuff is not cheap whatsoever. It's expensive because of the wideband. Post to my thread if you want me to get you prices, I'm sure I can get a sponsor to price match too but we'll need the name of the company that you have been talking to verify the price.

Here is the thread:

I'm not going to wait more than a couple of days but I'll try to work deals for folks.

Hey John... I got a couple of questions about FAST. Not somethin Im planning on doing any time soon, but just to satisfy curiosity. First off, does it fully replace the OEM PCM? Secondly, what functions do you lose from having the stock PCM? As in, how streetable is it? Thanks, it's just been something on my mind lately. I figure if I don't have the money to build my car up right now, I can build in my mind. Hehehe.

Garrett, it depends on what you decide to use with it. I have the crank convertor box from cartek. I use edit to control the timing and stuff, and my FAST controls my big injectors and all my fuel delivery. My system is non sequential and I wil be taking the edit out and having FAST run the entire car soon.

Scott, so you can have FAST run the entire car? I take it that with fast you can pull out your old PCM and only use it... but you'd lose things like your low oil light, seat belt light, blah blah blah and such. However, it can handle all of the engine operations and such I'm assuming. Basically my thought is this. I'd like to maintain everything in the car to make it a comfortable street car, however, I plan on doing a pretty big FI setup with all the goodies. My mind of course is bigger than my budget, so I was looking at the sequential.

FAST won't run the speedo or tach if you get the standalone. I think you can rig solutions for those.

Will it lock the torque converter in a stand alone? I had the SEFI8LO on my old car, and that was a disadvange (no locking ability) since it was just used for the streets.

SEFI8LO is the old name for what is now FAST.

I have no knowledge about whether it locks the converter it should though.

Pimpmaro... here is your answer. FAST could allow you to ditch the engine control harness and pcm (yay) IF you install a crank trigger. If you do the Cartek box like Scott, which is what I am going to do, I will still need the factory pcm to control timing.

The fast will not lock the converter.
The Accell Gen 7 will lock the converter, and do much much more.
The new FAST system coming out in Jan 04 will lock the converter among other user programmable outputs, it also will have speedo input along with several other analog inputs you gan use as you like, eg Log fuel pressure from an electric FP sending unit, etc.
The Accell Gen 7 is not plug and play same as the FAST, however Accell is working on a plug and play version as we speak.
I don't know if the new FAST unit will be LS1 plug and play or not.
