Default ISO affordable merge for headers

need 4 x 1 5/8" to single 2.5" for some turbo headers

something like this

but something like $25 each is my budget, and i would prefer a shorter one.. just the 'cone' area is all i need.

thanks, this is for my truck.

Search my recent posts, Megs has some very very nice ones.

About $100 for very high quality merge.

Right click on the picture above, and left click properties. You might just find out where he found them.

nah I won't lock it due to our sponsors not listing them for sale on their webpages. If it's something that a sponsor carries and would compete with them directly...then i'd lock it. The fuel rails are something that most of our sponsors carry so its a conflict of interest....although I didn't lock that thread

Summit racing huh? I still use them a lot, jegs too.

Make your own merge collectors and its costs maybe $10-15 in strait tubing or a little more if you use 15 degree bends.

of course there is something to be said about the value of your time as well though. I'm sure with enough patience and the ability to scrap a few that I could make them, but then there's that material cost and my time, like I mentioned.

If I were "good" that'd be a different story though.

It took me about 30 minutes to cut 4 tubes and about 10 minutes to tig them the first time I ever fabbed a collector If you think about what your doing then you shouldn't have waste materials. Its not hard to cut a collector when you think about it.

Sure your time is worth something if you could have been making money during that time. I guess it comes out to about $50-75 if you took off work 1.5 hours early to make two collectors.

I think theres something to be said about the advantage of having a good collector and using the right length/diameter primarys to take advantages of the exhaust back pulses. Alot of people with turbos have the opinion that you can just turn up the boost and make up for poorly designed headers though I guess it works to a point. Should be fine for the hp MM is looking to make.

Can you expand on the right diameters and length part (forced induction?)

Thanks

if factory cast manifolds can make 1500horse then a shitty home made set of actual headers should do my truck fine

the truck had a turbo, just getting a bigger one attached to this now

Send me a pm if you have a specific set up and I can help you out on that and explain it. I believe I may even still have a back to back comparison we did on a "tuned" turbo header vs. one just thrown together to work. No need to get MM's thread way off topic though.

Yes they can work as I said above. I take a different approach on any of my cars or customer's cars. I would rather run less boost and make the same power, rather then turn the boost up to compensate for a poorly designed system.

Good luck with the project

That person makes that look and sound so easy. They can weld like a **** so it's probably simple for them, but for those of us that suck at welding....
