quickest stock ls longblock? this might be it!!
. our peek tq is around 5500 but with the converter stalling to 5400 i am not sure of that. we are on the down hill part of the tq curve the entire run. we try shifting around 6000rpm. on that good run the shifts were at 6200 with a drop to 5900 after the shift. at 6000rpm we are down 75ft/lbs from our peek at 5500(wich may not even be our peek). we are missing out on quite a bit from our converter. what can ya do... my experience is if you send the converter in for a restall they will probably make it worse. we may try a diferent company for the nova but it is going to be a lock up so we dont care nearly as much.
as you can see the car is not ideal. there are a lot of things that could be done even without adding a larger turbo and more power. between launching it at higher boost, less weight and the right converter i could see droping this thing into the low 9's pretty easy. larger turbo and i bet it would bump into the 8's before the stock longblock got hurt.

thats all just talk though. we are going to push our nova. it has the cage and other saftey equipment, it has more turbo and will have a better converter set up. no point in rebuilding this entire car when we are going to try and loose it on pinks especialy when we have another car that is 3/4 of the way done with all the stuff done to it that we would need to do to the fairmont. besides all that the fairmont probably isn't all that safe. 6point, 28spline axles, no diaper....

I'm gona to have to try and make it out your way this summer and see that Nova
with a forged motor, maybe my Q-trim has a little more in it
if not i can see a t76 in my future

Cheers

the formula works with those numbers so i can tell you it isnt completly done by the 1/8th but might not finish out the 1/4 as strong as it could.
gears are 3.23 with 28" tires.

Pretty cool car overall, looks like you guys are having fun and thats what its all about.
the turbo is done no more power to be had there unless on a smaller enigne at higher rpm. there might be a hair more in the 60' and another .1 or .2 by droping weight if we wanted to go that route.
i love the doing more with less you got going on here!!!
