I may be wrong, but don't you need to upgrade to a different harmonic balancer when going from a p1sc to a disc?

No. You do need to get a different balancer when going to an 8 rib setup tho...

Just saying you need a different balancer for the 8 rib kit. P1 or D1 has nothing to do with it.

Doesn't the D1SC come with an 8 rib, or is the 8 rib recommended? Even if it is only pushing 8# ?

EPP sells and recommends an 8 rib system with the D1 (and they also sell the P1 in a kit with an 8-rib) but no, neither of them necessarily come with an 8 rib, Bob and the guys at EPP just like to sell their kits as complete as possible so you don't get the aftershock of "oh ****, I need this and that too" like you get with many other procharger vendors.

But, again, do you need an 8 rib setup for a D1SC running at 8# ?

IMO, yes. My '02 Z28 has an "old"(Circa 2002) Procharger kit with only a 6 rib set up. Sometimes it does well and gives me the full 8# that it is pullied for, and other times it slips and I lose boost. My kit is almost unchanged (only a better bypass valve) from how it came originally from Procharger, so I have the adjusting bolt/lock nut system for belt tension rather than a tensioner pulley. I have the belt as tight as I reasonably dare and it will still slip sometimes.

I would have an 8 rib kit on the car already, but my track car has been taking all of my time and money lately.

So if I were to purchase it now, it would come with a tensioner pulley instead of a bolt/locknut?

No, the tensioner is an entirely different setup available through SDCE. Type SDCE into yahoo or google and you'll get to their site.
