what are gages?

Boost/vac is a must.
Wideband would be a great idea just to watch.
If you have some extra money, oil pressure, water temp, maybe trans temp if your auto.

I like the 3 temps - oil, water, tranny, and oil pressure. I think wideband is iffy in value because you're not sure exactly what rpm the AFR is displaying from. I'd rather datalog for that.

First I've heard of those for reccommendations, I always thought the fuel pressure, boost/vac, and wideband were the norm. Trans temp if you were an auto which I jsut order these 4 gagues today. I guess it would depend the application the vehicle is enduring, if you can provide good cooling and not constantly beating on it the oil and water temp could do without. Also, the ambient temperature too of course.

Ok but what if something go's for **** while you are in the driver's seat? I was going to install one on my rail but thought why? Each to his own, and not arguing either. BTW, too bad your O2 was messed up today. Was curious how she was going to do. You hear allot of blowers on stock blocks but not so much turbo's so I think you should hit your 500rwhp mark with 6-7 psi instead of the 8psi ish that it take from a blower. Good luck!

Fuel pressure, boost/vac, EGT (if you want to monitor possible detonation), trans temp, oil and water temps.

This has got me thinking about adding the oil and water temp to my already 4 gauges. I still don't really see the point though, you already have water temp. I know its not that acurate but I mean its close enough to know if you are close to or are overheating the car. As for oil temp, haven't heard of that boiling. Maybe more of a concern with a turbo'd car though.

The most important gauge is the wideband, followed by fuel pressure, and then boost. If your A/F, fuel pressure, and tune is good, then there is no real need for a boost gauge.

I disagree. A boost gauge will tell you if your belt is slipping (SC) or if your wastegate is working properly (turbo)...

I went boost, fuel pressure, and wideband. I want to know if one of those isn't where they should be.

Then the only gauge needed is a tach the size of a wall clock!

Exactly. My WBO2 kept me from torching the engine more than once when I was tuning and is still the most used gauge in my car.

BTW, here's what I'm running: AEM WBO2, Elec FP, Boost, and H2O Temp
