Default Went to the track for a little shake down and everything went wrong!

First of all I had to find tires that day which was a chore. M/T drag radials. 275 40 17

I just got my griffen/flexalite setup done the night before and 2 min after the fans kicked on the first time the driver side fan came apart! (did not damage the rad, and it still stays cool with just one fan working correctly)

Then I got to the track and instead of 14-15 psi it was only making 9 for some reason. (I think the coupler that comes off the turbo to the first charge pipe got loose enough to leak) Felt like a dog! I also forgot my jacket so they got on to me before I even made one pass. The car is still running a 10.0 to 1 AFR so I dont know how much I am losing power wise through that.

First and best passand when I found out the boost was low was
11.4 @ 125! 1.95 60' Not spinning! I was'nt expecting 9s or anything but I was expecting closer to 135mph!

I left very easy and short shifted both shifts at 5700. when I got into 3rd when the car usually pulls the best it felt extremely weak. I look over at the gauges and I am only seeing 9psi.

I made 2 other passes that were almost exactly the same.
One of which I was as hard on the brake at the tree as I could be and it was no help.

The last run I said screw it and launched off the Trans brake at 2900rpms, no boost! Tires were 18lbs.
I did a hell of a burnout I thought. When I launched it just lit the tires up.
I was actually trying to break my stock rear!
By this time the staging lanes were getting long so I just quit and started drinking.

The next day I found 2 problems. One is where my wastegate attaches to the exhaust one of the 2 bolts that holds it on were missing so there was an 1/8in gap or so on one side where the exhaust was leaking out and cooked my turbo blanket.(runon) The second is where the boost is possibly leaking.

Needless to say I am not real happy with the turnout!

I know it sucks but those are all minor problems you can fix, it can always be worse .

It sounds like you were in too big of a hurry to get it to the track. Take your time and be patient. As far as your times I don't think you're as far off as you think. All those little things will add up in a hurry.

Ditto that..... take your time. **** breaks and goes wrong when you hurry things and "last minute" stuff.

Good luck on the next trip!

I was def in a hurry! Next time I will slow down a bit.

You guys have any idea how much power I will pick up going from 10.0 to 1 to 11.4 or so?

your speed density tuning must be incomplete; your AFR should have been right even at lower-than-expected boost. It's hard to say what you would gain though, but many widebands bottom-end default at 10.0. You could have well been richer than that and just not able to see how far off it is.

All in all, nothing was hurt or broken, so it was at least a semi successful outing.

lol...i had that kinda day myself. Car didnt mph for 2 passes...duh...eboost was set different from last weekend 3psi too low. Wrong tune was loaded...pegged my wideband at 10.0. I said "not my day"...pulled the slicks off after 2 passes...let my wife run on nittos and she had a ball running 11.6x all day doing no burnouts or anything. Car made 14 passes today and wife had a ball so it ended up a good day.

It doesn't sound that bad. At least you were racing. As long as there were no rods sticking out of places they shouldn't be you'll be fine.

I can imagine.....hey honey, car's running too slow.....so, here you are, have fun.

I should try loading the wrong tune for my wife sometime.....she's not afraid of the "go" pedal.

I didnt want to spend the whole day trying to run a number since I came to the track unprepared really. She had never been faster than 17.2 (her hyundai) so i knew 11s on nittos would be a blast for her. Nothing broke so you have to feel like it was a good day.

next time I need to make a checklist....

If you can drive the car back, it hasn't been that bad of a day.

Thats what happens when your running 295/35/18 (street)tires.. second run was 2.30 but i would imagine you have never heard of a 13.50 car running 122 mph.. Its a low11 to high 10 car.. street slicks will be bought soon, hopefully..
