Very nice. The switch to the bigger turbos on the same engine will be an interesting comparison.

It would still be nice to see what the max power output of the smaller turbos would be on the same engine. APS unfortunately pushed them pretty hard but on only a 346.They got a higher dyno with different wheels and not sure if those were now the ones that are in the upgrade kit.

yup fully dressed with a/c, p/s full weight, t-tops, and with the heavy twinturbos and rollbar to top it off lol !!

Very nicely done my friend, I have been watching your progress for some time now and I can defiantly say that I am very excited for you. I know that all the money and hard work we dump into these machines sometimes just doesn’t look like we are getting what we wanted out of it. But for those moments we do finally get to taste victory and satisfaction in what we have done, then wow what fun it is and I hope you continue to enjoy the car the way it is right now. It is nice to get as much enjoyment out of this victory as possible before pursuing the next level and all the bridges one must cross before getting there to that point. I myself can only hope to get half the success out of my APS setup. Congratulations once more on a job well done and earned.

Congrats it's pretty exciting to crack the 9's and I'm sure you'll whittle that time down even more this year.

Congratulations.

I am glad that I decided on a TT kit that will outperform my goals for my car for years to come, but nice that it has the power to do it, if I have a motor/drivetrain to handle it.

Congrats I know you've worked hard. With the perfect run and some more boost I think 9.5's are very possible. What the hell were you racing though? Did the camera man run down the track after he seen your time?

Some guys will be a lot quicker if they have a light z28 or formula or weigh hardly anything. My car is going to weigh as much or more than JM's. At least in daily driver trim. Not so worried about weight anymore after seeing the results posted here. I think JM is also still running 4.10s? that also makes you wonder about the really low gear are better argument? And the aps are too small arguement for 402 or 408 is also pretty put to bed. Smaller turbos give quicker spool up than bigger ones and may give better wider street power band. For racing well the bigger ones can shine a bit there.

as for the gear part I am running 1/10 slower in the 1/8th mile than JM with 4 pounds less boost (8.5PSI) and a 3.50 gear with a 28" tire. My car is full weight ++ I have not removed 1 single thing to make it lighter. I think that if you read back you will also see that he thinks he already has enough back pressure at 12.5 pounds of boost.

Congrats. Nice run BTW, WTF were you racing against? Jeez, I had a 4-cyl Mustang convertible in high school that ran faster 1/4 mile times than the 21.xx car you raced!!

Well interesting info there Darren. Maybe you can hit a 1/4 mile track my mind just can't deal with 1/8 miles. I am going to be running 3.54 in dana 60. And have same heads as you ,you have a bit more cam and not sure what intake you have.I may go 4l80 next year want to try to get thru this year with my m6. So reasonably similar combos.

I want to dyno my car a few times at various boost levels and will track it but no rollbar ever so if it hits under 11.5 they will for sure kick me off they are strict. There is one place though that isn't and might be able to run there.
So are you going to up your boost then Darren and will your track kick you? At under 10.0 I thought you needed full cage not rollbar and medical and bunch of stuff.

Oh also not sure how you can tell there is too much backpressure at 12.5? I would think the turbos should be able to put out around 800 rwhp on an auto anyway or about 850 rwhp on a manual. Guess we will have to see as more guys get the kits on their cars and try for the higher boost numbers. Nice to see they have the upgrade turbos now if a person needs them.

Using a bit small turbos is a common trick for factory turbo cars. You sacrifice a bit up top and some power of course too but you gain lower spoolup and broader power band. That is usually more important on a street car. Big turbos can get laggy. Have quite a bit of turbo experience from my dsm cars. Have a pretty huge turbo on my 97 talon.
Powerband is about 3000 starting boost to about 8000. Not bad but might swap down on turbo size to get starting boost at 2000 so powerband is wider. But also would be giving up 100 hp potential. I think in another 5 or 10 years we will be able to have way bigger turbos and super fast spool up. Next big thing in turbos will likely be magnetic bearings, no need for oil or water cooling and they will spin up super quick with magnetic bearings. That will truly be the golden age of turbos.
