Default Made a few passes with the F1A today..

Havent heard much from me lately, W2W did a 25.5 cage last month, I put an air shifter and a fire system in the car plus new carpet and trying to make everything look as stock inside as possible. Unfortunately I missed the good weather so no great ETs really for a while. Since I dont want the the hassle of an A2W I'm at the mercy of ambient air temps and the 150.00 eBay intercooler only can do so much.

Anyhow, couple pics of the new cage, turned out pretty nice except I added 100lbs to the car with all the new stuff, figured the 18 or so cubic inches would even that out and it appears that it did. DA was around 2300' today at Steele Alabama and ran a 9.09 and a 9.10 @ 148.xx which is a little off the pace from last year for the same DA but add the 100lbs and its not bad really. I had a little smaller pulley on the F1A, 7.25/3.9 as opposed to last years 7.25/4.0 but all it seemed to do was make more heat, IATs were in the 170s at the end of the 1/4 and it was only 77* out. Might have even run better with the 4.0 pulley, who knows.

Video of a few passes from today, first was some hefty tire spin and 2nd I had to let off, hit some oil or water on the track at about the 1/8 and it go a little loose.

http://lsx.streetfire.net/video/2465...930000ab56.htm

Nothing new really, still trying to decide what to do, I'd like to step it up some but this thing is about as trouble free as you can get, not sure if a few tenths is worth the extra hassle (A2W and bigger blower/drive or turbo swap). Might just try to get the 100lbs out I put in but not a lot of places to take weight out without noticing it, might ecen finally make the switch to manual steering

Its pulling the front end a little higher than usual, combination of new tires, decent track prep and the smaller blower pulley most likely.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed a 50 degree weekend will roll through before the hot weather comes, Feb/March and October/November are the 'good' weather days in these parts..

Let me know if your looking for a larger core intercooler, that fits TA bumper cover well too.

Nice looking intercooler, something like that would probably help some but I'm kicking around a lot of different ideas.

But most likely will just leave it the way it is for a while

The manual rack is a good way to go for some weight savings. The cage looks great Kevin! Bob

Nice runs Kevin! Go ahead and put the big turbo in there and the A/W intercooler also. You will eventually anyway.

Killer looking set-up Kevin. Very clean. I'd be tempted to try a meth kit just to see what would happen with ambient temps......

I tried it last year, wasnt impressed really, if I was running pump gas it would be a different story. Plus if I wanted another pump and tank in the car I would just do an A2W which is legal to run in any classes, meth is not. Could just put a 100 shot on it and that would work better than either of them

Manual rack is around 10-12lbs + a few freed up HP. I have had two of them on the car over the years but always ended up putting the PS back on.

I need to lose about 25lbs, that will make up for the power steering and brakes AND make my wife happy lol. The compression on this engine a little lower than the last one and I think thats hurting me a little since the blower is about maxed out, I need to stock up on some extra head gaskets and just bolt an F1R on there

Car sounds awesome. Did the car get out of the groove in that 2nd pass? Also a bit o/t, but was that taken with your Panasonic video camera?

Yea, there was something on the track and the car kept drifting left and then hooked and went right so I let off pretty quick as you can hear, I shouldnt have stayed in it as long as I did but it left decent and I wanted to keep in it.

Yea, thats with the same old panasonic camera, thats pretty low quality for the internet though, looks a lot better on the TV/computer here.

Nothing like 50deg IAT's vs 130-145 from a A2A

If we weren't having converter issues we would also be out racing!

Yea, but also nothing like never having to open the hood/door/decklid and add ice

I would be happy with 145 from the A2A, but when you start turning the blower higher on a 80 degree day its more like 160-170 degrees at the TB.

I'm pretty happy with how this is running overall though, 9.0x in he summer isnt bad really, its very little work and cost to wait for cooler weather

Low matience is very nice, especially when its time to pack up the trailer and leave the race.

Yea, I'm not trying to set any records or run in any class, I'm just out there having fun. Some days are more fun than others but trying to eek out a couple tenths to be competitive in a class can be pretty frustrating and expensive.

Besides I built this to be a 10.0 car, a 8.90/9.0 car is a nice bonus I suppose
