New Gn owner Hey I'm picking up my 87 Buick Grand National this weekend and I have never worked with any kind of forced induction motors. Wanted to ask a few questions.
Are their any extra maintenance that comes with a turbo?
Anything I should look out for while running the car?
The car is pretty much stock with a te44 turbo,cat-back, and drag radials
Any other mods I should look into short of pulling the motor?

you may wanna check out bgnra.org and turbobuick.com thats all they talk about over there. as far as mods i use to own a grand national. get a front mount intercooler and make sure and i mean make sure you upgrade the fuel system. buick motors dont like being reved high. get a wide band o2 sensor. and you can also get a electric dump right before the cat. and also a shift kit. you should run some real good 11's with that combo.
Thanks yeah I've already ordered a better pump and regulator. Any thoughts on the stock intercooler? The car runs 12.4 right now daily driven so I'd like to get it into the low 11's so I can play on the street with it.

I'd get a te61 turbo, champion heads, front mount or alky, a 3600 stall and some 60#ers. I have a te44 with some champion heads and the turbo ran out of steam. Beofre the heads I could run 24#'s with alky and now I can't get over 20#'s with the heads.

You can run as much boost as you have octane for... for a stock IC, I wouldnt recommend any more then 15 PSI.
I see 20-21 psi on my stock motor car... have seen 28 on 110 octane

I always ran 16 on 91/93. With the alky I ran 24#'s on 91/93 with zero knock. If you get an in car controller it will slow your spool some. The closer the controller is to the WG the less lag you'll have.
