Default I need a more aggressive cam

That's right. The current one in my car is a Crane 220/224, .551/.551, 114.
Since I'll be without boost for awhile I thought it would be a good idea to go with a slightly bigger cam while I have easy access to do it. Would be nice to make more power as a N/A setup til I get the turbo/blower build on. I done a little searching and found some guys using cams along these specs...

23x/23x//114
23x/24x//114

My car will be driven around town everyday so I don't want to get too radical but I definitely want to go bigger. What would you suggest? EPP sells their FI cam similar to those specs. Also, can I reuse the Precision dual valve springs or do I have to get new ones??

For FI I'd suggest something with a 115LSA (or more). I run a CC228. Works well for my application. My friend has the EPP cam. I was impressed with the power and drivability on that setup....and it had a nice sounding idle too. The latter cam definetly requires springs good to .650 lift.

Yea those are some pretty big cams. How long are you planning to go without boost? I mean it would only make sense to plan for the future if its definite. You could always go with a fairly mild street cam and spray it.

without boost at least til this fall or winter (if not longer). no need to spray it since it'll be awaiting boost instead. just need something that sounds a little meaner & makes a little more power for now. starting to think like a high 22x or low 23x & 114 LSA

I know I built my motor for boost but didn't actually get it until a year later, but I did go a little odd ball on my cam choice but I like the low end power it gives me. I would definatley check out those lenginfelter cams that are made for boost. I wish I would have done so when I was choosing my cam.

I sold a guy this cam who installed it several weeks ago, and for the time being without using any type of forced induction. He e-mailed me to say he picked up 35 to 40 rwhp over his stock cam, and he loves the sound of it! Bob

THat cam should make some great power. In a 346, it is going to have a lot of chop and lope. I have a 236/245//598/608//115 in my 402 and it has a lot of chop and lope. Plus the power band is fairly high. Around 3200 to 3400 RPMs is where you can really feel the cam come to life. For a DD 346, a 232/240//595/608//115 might be a on the big side IMO.

KP used it in his 347, shown here.

We built this Corvette back in 04, it is back at the shop. We just added a larger fuel system and we hit 860 rwhp with it. We would of seen more horsepower but we kept getting excessive tire spin, even with extra straps pulling straight down on the rear. This Z06 is a 347 and this is the first car we ever put this camshaft into. Bob

I'd buy a bigger turbo before I swapped cams on your set-up. You are wayyyy out of that snails efficiency range.

EPP forced induction cam on a stock cubed, stock bottom motor, d1 @ 8psi.
As stated, cam comes in 32-3500.
Numbers in sig.

I really like the cam, it has an awesome idle, and driveability is great.

FWIW, i can't find anything i don't like about that cam. But you need good springs.

Hope this helps.

I think my ideal cam would be just under 600 lift on 1.7 rockers, with an lsa a bit higher than 115 say 116 or 117 or even more. Duration well someone should run some tests on same motor and try out reverse split, no split and normal splits.

I would go under 600 lift to extend valve spring life and keep things farther away from valve float since boosted engines push the springs harder. And personally don't like much lope or surge and want easy tuning.

That is pretty much what I did in my project. Lift was mid 550s with the cam I have so went to 1.8 rockers to up things a bit. LSA is big so not expecting any lope or surging or tuning hassles. Duration and split...well everyone has a theory on that.

Here are specs on gt7 cam..
Lingenfelter GT7 208/230 .554/.546 –121CL
With 1.7 rockers.

Theres allways gears to offset the low end loss

This cam tends to peak around 6400 in a 346 with a blower, turbo cars a tad shorter depending on back pressure.

For a 400in engine, we have a 236/246 to let it pull up top around 6400-6500.

Obviously if you have custom cylinder heads and a hand ported intake and what not, a shelf cam is usually leaving power on the table.
