Yes, too true!
How silly of me - Forgive my ignorance!
When I saw what they did with the IAT sensor, and knowing how important it is in fueling calculations, I was appalled. I have since fixed their FU, but no longer accept their solutions as optimal.

Is this restrictor a good upgrade to the STS if you are keeping the STS pump also?? My kit had oil all through the pipes with the stock STS kit, now going to a TC78, should I change the restrictor or run no restrictor?

just a few of questions (and can you add pix I'll somewhat of a visual learner) where did you put the IAT sensor and is there anything else slowing the oil to the turbo besides the resistor? The mocal pump flows this way turbo-->pump--->engine (flow from left to right)and the STS pump flows this way engine<---pump<---turbo (flow from right to left) am I correct on that understanding? So you just swapped the sides that feeds it?

I had an oiling issue, and tried the restrictor and it starved my turbo of oil and my turbo took a crap. I sent the turbo to STS and it was obvious there was oil starvation issues. I dont aggree with the restrictor. It sounds like a good idea, but starving the turbo is BAD....... Right..?

Default An answer or two...

My Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor is in the stock location, in an aftermarket Alumimun elbow; I used a touch of silicone to lock it in as I'm running about 11 lbs of boost and I didn't want to shoot it out of my intake stream.

Nope; not in the stock STS kit. The dual relay setup uses the STS supplied 1 psi switch (mounted on the intake) to trip between Lo and Hi flow on the oil pump. Below 1 psi = low; about 1 psi at the intake, triggers the 2nd relay and the pump runs w/o the in-line resistor at Hi speed. The oil restrictor is for reducing oil volume to the turbo.

Not exactly; both systems are as follows:

engine --> (optional restrictor) --> turbo -->
STS OR Mocal oil pump --> engine

I hope this helps.

BTW - Post oil restrictor install, MY oily MAF problem is fixed!

(Now all I need to do is wrap everything and get yet another tune!)

thanks for answering the questions but I was wondering about the flow of the oil pump

you can orientate the sts pump inlet outlet anyway you want. Take the 2 screws off from the top and spin the pump housing 180 on the pump motor if it is facing the wrong direction.. it is labled in and out.

The STS oil pump pulls oil from the turbo and returns it to the engine.

It is not meant to push oil to the turbo.

As stated above, there are directional arrows on the pump itself which indicate oil flow.

experiencing the oil in the exhaust and intake. not so much now but its still not good. im trying a .040 restritor and shorting the pre pump return line. mines custom so i did all the leg work myself. my oil returns to the pan and i feed with a 4an and have a check valve pre turbo and then return it all with 10an lines. i do have a .080 restrictor in there now. im gonna try and shorten the line first and if this all doesnt work, im getting a bigger pump. i have one of those larger gear oil pumps that look simular to STS's but is as large as the Mocal styles. plus im hunting boost leaks
