Default 6.0 l heads, EGT temps

Since putting on the new heads my EGT's have gone to 1400F at cruise(3k). I know the cam I have is not turbo friendly. I used to see cruise temps at 1200 and a little above. My dual gauge goes to 1500F and I peg it? Please a little feedback. I hope I don't melt plugs! Guys, assure me I am OK. Thanks, Angelo

1400 at cruise is probably about as high as you want to go, but as long as the plugs look good I would be fine with it. If you give the car any kind of load the temps should drop though (more fuel), and you should be closer to 1100-1200 at wot to be on the safe side.

You need more fuel at Cruise. You should be in the 1200 range. Temps like that will cause the engine to run hot, and cause premature bearing wear also.

What does it go to at WOT? Also, a 1500degree max EGT is not enough. You need it to go to at least 1700 degrees.

Rob, the gauge pegs itself. I don't have the car here to check, it is off getting the new hood painted, but I am sure the last number on my dual egt gauge is 15 it may go to 1600 with more little marks? Thats it! It is a Livorsi marine dual sweep egt. Supposed to be very good? I have only driven the car around 100miles with the new heads. I will get it back and add fuel where you guys say. The car has 15deg timing at WOT. 0 knock, with the power in my sig, on 100oct. Thanks, Ang

Isn't 1700 where things tend to melt? I have heard of people hit 1800+ deg with no problems, but they were running 20+ psi, and c-16. EGT temps seem to vary with different setups, and location of probe(s). Would you want to tune with EGT's or WB o2? Sorry to jump in on this thread.
