Default Heads for my boosted 408 Darts or different?

I have a 408 shortblock that was built with a turbo setup in mind. I have a set of out of the box Dart Pro 1 225 heads. I was orginally going to run them on it but have heard that under boost the Dart heads might not be the best heads. I have a Silverado with a LQ4 that I was thinking about throwing the Darts on and maybe picking up some other heads for the Camaro. The pistons and everything were speced for the 62 CC chamber of the Darts so running the LQ4 heads really would KILL the CR. I think the pistons have a 32cc dish. Anyway, what would be a good head to go with for my motor? The lift of the cam is .617 so the springs would need to support that. Thanks for the help.

If you look on EPP site and take a look at "Project Cars" they seem to use AFR 225s and have great results!

How much power are you looking to make and what sized turbo are you running? If your going with a large frame turbo then maybe look into something like a tfs 235 head but I believe slowhawk built PurEvil's turbo car with AFR 225's on a 408 with a T-88 turbo and they made 800+ rwhp with ease.

I have both TFS and AFR's underboost real hard to tell the difference especially with different types of FI, but I have to give the nod to the TFS heads cost not being a factor as I think they are real close in price although TFS requires a roller rocker which will cost an additional $385 at least for some YT ultralights. Although AFR doesn't say you really should run a RR on them also.GL although the Darts will performe fine IMO.

What about maybe some Patriots, or some TEA heads? Or should I get them on the HD and keep the Darts for the Camaro? I am between running an 88 turbo or two 60 something turbos. My goal is to make somewhere in the 1kwhp range turned up with meth. Low boost pump gas I would like to be in the 800 range. I was under the impression that maybe I could get away with less head on a boosted setup because under boost you are forcing the atmosphere in anyway so they don't have to be some super bad *** head. Don't get me wrong I know I am going to drop some serious coin on the car, but if there is little to no difference between a 1500 set of heads and a 3000 set of heads there is no reason to spend that extra money in my eyes. Thanks for the help guys.

Well for your goal you will want the best and an aftermarket casting for the thicker deck and better material to help keep the heads from lifting/ pushing water etc... Some people have met your goal with a stock casting, but more have less trouble with one of the above AFR,TFS,Dart, All Pro etc... Lifing etc...

Just about to say that.
ETP heads if you want to spend the extra cash, they would be your best bet.

AFR and All Pro heads can be had in a timely manner, ETP take several months at best unless someone has a set in stock. You're definitely going to want a thick head for making 1000 rwhp. Bob

Are the Dart heads I have now suitable for my goals or should I look into something else for my Camaro? The whole thought was that I had these heads I could throw them on my HD if they wouldn't be good enough for my Camaro build. I want to build the Camaro with the most sensible parts possible.

Plenty of people have had good experience with the AFR 225's on boosted setups, however I havent heard of many running the DARTS (not saying they wont work, just havent heard of a lot of people using them). Plenty of companies that are out there make a great head (allpro, etp, tfs, afr, etc) it just comes down to if you want the best of the best or if you are just looking for a good head that will flow well on your setup. I would say sell the DARTS or put them on your truck and get some AFR 225s.
