I wonder how twin 106s would be...........!
depends.... before or after you hit the wall or flip over?????

Will do Stephen.... LMR would be the company building said engine regardless.... Oh and Stephen now that I have your attention let's get your opinion....

two 76's or one 94?????

Keep in mind everything including packaging it under the confines of the hood and what not....

I'm not totally against air-water but i'd like to keep my passenger seat if I could.... giving rides to women in 1500hp cars gets me alot of ***....

yeah what I meant by reliably is running in the 8's and not expecting to split the block in half every pass.....

I'm sure the LSx block will be up to this task.... and damn seven, great pics and great setup.....

like how you mocked it up off the car on the stand.. must make things easy to weld up that way.... you're sure it's gonna fit once you drop it in right??? It does look like you kept everything super tight. Are you gonna use those log manifolds?????

It will fit I am not worried about that, I did not do any of the welding KYTP Did that all I had to do was V-band it. I do have to relocate stuff but that is not hard plus it make the engine bay look cleaner. And if you are going to be going 8.50s you probably need to do some of the same like an ABS Delete from SJM.

Lol, I want a reliable 8 second car too and it just doesn't seem possible. I understand his point though, it would be nice to not worry about the block blowing every pass.

I went with twin 74mm (GT42R) turbos on my setup, but I have an 04 GTO and packaging and DP routing is a bit more difficult in this car... Plus I have always been a fan of twins... Women and turbos of course!

its not a topic of debate.merging exhaust flow with a 90* just isnt good for flow.

Twin 76's will be more efficient, but cost more. Also, you can still have an air to water intercooler and keep your passenger seat for the ladies. Just need to have the right people building your turbo kit

Outlaw, that is one of the cleanest engine bays I have ever seen. Nice job, and just to let you know we can build you a COMPETELY RELIABLE sub 8.50 car. That is so easy for me to do now. Hell at the last race we attended (The Clash of The Titans) we were running 8.0's all day with our little 91.5 mm turbo. It would also be no problem to keep the passenger seat functional for the ladies

I have a set-up that is very near what he wants. I think someone needs to answer his real question, it's not as cheap as people think. You can run into the mid-high 9's fairly inexpensively but mid to low 8's reliably requires more financial commitment. Don't mean to be negative, only realistic.

Shortblock (hydro-roller) $8K
Heads/Valvetrain $3K
Intake/Elbow/TB $1K
Fuel system $2K
Engine management system (BS3) $3K
Turbo Kit (94mm) $5K
Intercooler (2000HP) $2K

Other things to consider:

Dry sump system $3K
Transmission $4K
Converter $1
Rear End $3K
25.5 Cage $4-8K depending on if you can do it yourself or not

This also does not include the misc BS like hoses, gauges, fuel tanks, ice water resivor, radiator, water pump, shifter, etc, etc, etc.

I lot of my build was done by myself and partner. We definitely made it nice but it still was about 33% more than what we anticipated when we were done.

Sponsers would help, otherwise consider your expectations before you dive in.

It's still a ton of fun..good luck with your build.

Mark
