How to building LT1 for procharger
Hello guys...
My friend want to rebuild his engine with a procharger system, from 12-15 psi what are the modifications needed?
allready have some those mods M6/LT1 Trans Am 1993 355ci :
>Heads S2 2.02/1.65
>LT1 intake ported
>Comp cams dual springs
>RR GM 1.6 LT4
>Jet chip
>pistons TRW
>Comp Cam 220-230 Lift .510.510 LSA 114
>McLeod dual clutch
>aluminum driveshaft
>Accel ignition systems
>Meziere Electric Water Pump
>Pulleys
>Accel wires
>BBK 58mm
>Hooker headers & custom Y pip 2"
>Flowmaster catback 3"
The car it's not for daily drive and we need it for street race.
Thank you for advance

Re: How to building LT1 for procharger
It all depends on his budget. I would recommend going with a GM forged crank, Eagle H-beam rods, Clevite H bearings and JE pistons.

Re: How to building LT1 for procharger
what's the compression of the pistons needed on LT1 heads and what's the size of the rods for the engine with procharger 12-15 psi.
What about the O-ring ??

If it's a street racing only machine your options are much great - what kind of octane rating do you need it to run on (minimum)?
I wouldn't do an o-ring unless you get to the point that headgaskets will not hold even without detonation - and the cometic's are good for some pretty decent power.
The whole setup really depends on:
what your power goals are
what octane you want to run
how you want to use the car

Re: How to building LT1 for procharger
The octane rating in kuwait 98 .
For street racing, frome 600m to 800m.
He want the car for racing only not for daily drive .
It's important to put the rods ?

Re: How to building LT1 for procharger
Is the 98 R+M/2 or just research octane?
I would shoot for around 9-9.5:1 - at 12-15psi with a D1 or better you should be at 600-700rwhp. If that is enough power for you than the camshaft you have right now will be fine.
What kind of crankshaft and connecting rods do you have?

Re: How to building LT1 for procharger
stock internals except for the TRW piston ( which we want to replace with piston suitable for thise SC )
What do you recommed for internals ?
Do you advise me to go with stroker( 383 , 396 ) or stay with only forged ?
Thanks

Re: How to building LT1 for procharger
Displacement isn't going to make that big a difference since your intake CFM will be fixed by your pulley setup. It will help some though.
My suggestion would be a forged 383 crank, 5.7" rod (eagle h-beam or better), and some JE or CP pistons (JE has an off the shelf -31 cc that will work for that setup).
You are going to need to get LT1 Edit or have someone tune it - and it will need to be someone with access to the car.
Also there will be other issues to address - fuel system - the lines will be fine, I would recommend a dual intake GSS340, and some 72lb/hr injectors with a speed Inc impedance converter box.
Which ATI compressor are you looking at - I would go with the D1 for the level you are looking at (or a vortech kit )

There's LT1 Edit for 1993 LT1 m6 ? and which one better LT1 Edie or Chip ?

Re: How to building LT1 for procharger
Sorry, missed the '93 part. You can use tunercat to tune your motor with, but being a 93 it is going to be very difficult. You can't read boost at all, and you also don't have a maf so you can't meter any air over ambient pressure - I would suggest going with an aftermarket efi unit (accel Gen7, FAST, etc.) if you want to get any decent type of reliability out of it.
There aren't fixed psi or rwhp values for the parts, but in a general sense i wouldn't want to run the crank over 550rwhp or the rods over 450rwhp. It's not neccecarily that they couldn't take it, but new parts are so cheap I wouldn't want to risk the entire motor over a few hundred bucks.

What is the max psi can i get it with stock rod and stock crank ? and how much rwhp ?
From where can i buy the ( accel Gen7, FAST ) and how much it will cost me ?
