How does the fancy new 78 compare to the ST80 w/ race cover as far as spool time and power output?

On most V8 setups the ST80 will still have a small edge over the 78...just due to shear inducer size and the turbine is a little larger. The advantage of the 78 is it will drop into almost all current setups of turbo kits running units like the TC76, 76GTS, ITS76, T76....etc. The comp cover is only about .5" taller then a H series cover or Tseries cover from both PTE and Tnetics.

I would take the st80 over the t-netics unit though. Its a good bit more durable and will not melt down when you are trying to make maximum power. i.e. blocking the gate and going for the gold.

The Super T is similar except for a few small changes to the CHRA on the GTM's. Also the Super T's are a good bit Mo money....

I was curious about the super T vs the newer models since I currently run the super T.

The super T that we have used and had on the shelves had the older style turbine wheels. Not sure if they have been revised or not. The used the Pro-comp Q.

Covers look the same between all the Tnetic (MF) units, but they use different difuser spacing. Also the backing plates are a little different between models. Some is the thicker vband to hold the cover and some don't. Also the ported shroud (re-flow slot) covers will hurt hp about 10-20hp.

T4 foot and a 4" outlet. So this should drop in place of my GT4202 pretty easily?

How does this turbo preform in the higher pressure ratios? Say some was thinking about installing one on a 403" V8 diesel? Would I better of with a BW base unit like an ST78?

Ah yes it will virtually drop into a GT4202 spot, but it does not have the v-band on the compressor cover discharge. As for the 403 (Dmax) you need to talk to JZ 97 SS 1500 about that. The diesel world I know a little about, but turbo selection for that is TOTALLY different then the gas stuff. He will know exactly what you need since we sell ALOT of units to the afternmarket diesel industry. I think the ST78 is not a high pressure wheel....but I could be wrong. Your going to need something in the 65-85psi of boost range on that Dmax.
