Question Squires Turbo Systems

I have a 98 SS with PRC LS6 Stage 2.5 heads
CompCam XE-R 224/228 (.581/.588) on 114 LSA
FAST 92mm Intake
FAST 92mm Throttle Body
PRC dual valve springs (.650 lift)
Comp Pushrods
Jesel Rockers
Comp belt tensioner pulley
LS6 ported oil pump
160' Thermostat
Z06 Mass Airflow
MTI lid
K&N air filter
Taylor Spark Plug wires
New TR55 plugs
Exhaust:
Mac Mid-Length headers ( want to put my Pacesettlers Long tubes)
3" y-pipe, no cats
MagnaFlow muffler
3" cut-out

Now if I wanted to get the Squires Turbo would I have to change my cam or heads?

You will want to stay away from the LT's and really the mid's and go with the OE manifolds with the hot side wrapped on an STS kit.

Heads should be fine but everyone has a different reccomendation as far as cams go. I've installed a 232/240 @.050 in two sepertae LSX engines and seemed to run and idle well with a bit of a lope at idle.

Try a forum search or if some of the other STS guys chime in here that should be able to give you a little more info!

well lets see here...

ls6 heads are good, how much boost you lookin to push?
the 114 lsa on the cam will be a good compliment
the fast combo is nice, as well as the duel valve springs ( you tend to get alota valve float under boost with weak springs)
the lid and filter dosent matter because itll be removed
tr55 plugs are ok, but you might want 1 step colder like tr6s
long tubes arnt recommended, not sure if mid lenghts hurt any, if you wrap them good itll be ok. ( you need to keep the heat retained in the pipes, and aftermarket tublar hedders tend to be thin and let out all the heat)
cut out dosent matter much because you dont wanna bypass the turbo lol

btw i have a complete sts kit for sale

Cam should work OK. The 114LS will help a lot. Airlid and cutout will go the way of the dodo....so they don't factor in.

The heads won't be doing ou any favos due to their 10.7 to 1 compression. Should be fine if you keep the boost to the 5-7PSI range. LT headers are also not ideal, but I ran the STS for 2.5 years w/ LT's. Ceramic coating of the headers helps. Stock manifolds re the best for their heat retention though (decreases spool time). You will also want to wrap the exhaust from the Y-pipe back w/ DEI wrap, which will make a big difference to decrease "lag".

Fuel will be your biggest concern. You'll want a 255gph pump minimum (duals preferred) and 42lb injectors at a minimum. I personally ran 60's, cause they leave room to grow.

If your seriously considering the STS, do a search for Zombie and my thread on oil control. The STS has some setbacks that need to be "engineered out" for optimal performance. A FMIC is also mandatory....regardless of the bullcrap STS shovels concerning this.

Hope this helps

I would keep both your heads and cam with an sts kit, your compression will be fine as long as you get a good conservative tune on it and keep the boost in the lower range. Basicly Id keep your whole setup but wrap the exhaust all the way back to the turbo.

Are you running an A4 or an m6? That will make all the difference. A4s can run the turbo, M6s should run a supercharger.

I had Macs mids on mine but they leaked alot because of the added heat. I also had them wrap and when I removed them and took off the wrap all the coating fell off. Just get some stock 2000 and up manifolds and be done with it. It was night and day diffrance on my car.
