Default Wastegates and BOVs

I did a quick search and didn't really find what I was looking for.

Is there a rule of thumb as to what size of WG/BOV you need to run? And as to what company to go for, and which to stay away from?

Going to be doing a 347, forged bottom end, 6L heads, TC 76 6-12psi...

Tial, jgs, turbosmart are all good brands.
I recommend you run a 40mm JGS Wg and a JGS BOV, Its your best bang for the buck and will easily controll whatever boost you want. Very high quality

Only ever run Turbosmart on my car... With a TS 38mm gate and a TS MBC I held 9 psi for two years and 16 psi for the last year with NO issues.

TS Megasonic Type 3 (stiffer spring) BOV sounds UNBELIEVABLE and TS claims there is no boost limit. It will hold whatever you throw at it without leaking boost... It's also fully adjustable so you don't need different springs to adapt to your particular inches of vacuum to stay closed at idle and open when it needs to... Also, no tools are needed to adjust... You turn the case by hand.

The more I experience their products, the more I fall in love with Turbosmart... They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

thats good to hear, because their prices might not be "cheap", but they arent ignorant like some of the others out there.

I like the stealth versions myself

Yes Turbosmart is THE best...period. We carry all of the brands, but finish, quality and NEVER having problems with their gates on even some very, very extreme conditions, its hard to compare anything else to them. Their valves are indestructible even at 2000+ EGT's with our sled pulling Diesel customers......

They sound ok...that's about it. They don't flow anything special, or really do anything special....just have the name HKS on them.

Greddy Type RS was the biggest piece of **** I ever owned... I ran a Greddy first because my charge pipe has a Greddy style flange.

Actually, I still have a Greddy style flange, but I can run a Turbosmart because they sell adapters that go in between their BOV and almost any style flange without needing to cut or weld anything preexisting.

Turbosmart really puts the others to shame... They're just all about total reliability and convenience.
