TT STS ZO6 Overheating problems!!! Help I just bought this car about month ago I took out today
And the temp is at 195-205F While cruising with A/C off its very very hot around here but as soon I turn the A/C on and the car see traffic the temp start going up to 225-230F
Is this normal???? when I turn A/C off the temp go down fast.
I think the tuner didnt do anything to fans they start really late.
I'm talking to Bob about Ron Davis (spelling) Radiator to see if that can help.

This sounds like an air flow problem to me. I d first change the air dam. Then I d look at the fans, make sure both are working, possible relay died that stuff. I d also check the front of the radiator, and maybe clean it. I ussually run water backwards from the engine side, but you have to remove the fans, and the top plate to do it. Atleast half the cars I see, have a lot of dirt, paper, road debris, and or a dead slow fan.
Well if that normal then I'm going procharger or Big CI very soon
Believe that the 1st thing I checked I changed a new head gasked, new Thermostat the only thing I still didnt do is programming the fans.
So thats my last hope.
I'm not crusing at 701rwhp I'm only at 8psi now with somewhere between 500-550rwhp.

All checked the front of the car and radiator is clean and both fans are working but I think they're weak.

The cats could be getting clogged. We have seen them clog up faster on forced induction cars, and they sometimes spit pieces out. With rear mount turbos it is only a matter of time before the cats spit pieces into the turbos and ruin them. We had that happen on a Ferrari about six years ago. Bob
The bottom air dams need to be in place and the shroud forcing all air through the radiator needs to be there as well. Air going around the radiator isn't doing a darn thing.
At 116 degree ambient and cruising w/ AC doing 70, I don't see 190. Same temps in stop and go and with AC, temps stay below 200.

I have the same setup with the same high temps. I agree with AVB. I think it is an airflow problem also. I had a A@A vortech supercharger kit an had no cooling problems. With the same 160 degree thermostat and fans set low. I am making a piece to force the air that passes through the intercooler to also pass through the radiator. Right now it can just flow around it. The A@A and Procharger kits have an abs plastic insert that does this. It is what I am going to try. Just my 2 cents.

Ran into same issue after sts install, plus I have an ACI spoiler on a c5 so even more issues. Fabbed an aluminum shroud that allows air to flow from front to intercooler, to a/c condensor, to radiator. Closed off all opennings with aluminum tape, removed front DTRL plastic pieces, now run an incredible 195 with a/c at 70 mph with outside temps at 100 degress.
