Pics of turbo manifolds/headers
I'm going to be fabbing up either a twin or single turbo system, and I just needed to see pics on how to go about making the manifolds. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Pics of turbo manifolds/headers
harlan i have a question. i see you have done the exhaust and am asuming you do the intake tubing also. were do you buy the tubing for the intake and what kind of welder do you use? i want to fab some intake tubing and have a mig. but i was thinking every one tigged that stuff. if that is the case i can mock it up and tack it then take it to be tig welded.
Thanks in advance.

I've got a Miller Syncrowave 180, AC/DC TIG
I've been getting my stainless and aluminum mandrel stuff from Burns Stainless. Not cheap normally, but i've bought so much there in the last year that i'm getting Tier 3 pricing
The LT1 used stainless for the intake plumbing, more for the bling factor. He likes to polish EVERYTHING
I'm planning to use aluminum for my current project, more for the weight factor. It's about half the weight, but harder to weld and because the mandrel bends are anealed first they are pretty soft. Easy to ding and dent, and unforgiving to a band saw blade with a couple missing teeth.
You should be able to get stainless at Stainless Works, they are a sponsor here. I got my header flanges there, but not after some trouble. Guess they fired their sale guy cause he sucked and didn't return calls. So i delt w/ the pres of the company. They seem to be cheaper than Burns's normal pricing, but don't have 321 as a stocking item which i needed. For intake work, 18 gauge 304 is more than enough.
Welding stainless has it's quirks, so if you can tack it together and have it TIG'd elsewhere it's not a bad idea.

Re: Pics of turbo manifolds/headers
Thanks. Quick question though... Is there enough room to mount the turbos in a similar way on an LS1? I know we have a bit more clearance than LT1 cars, but I'm not sure if the accessories get in the way?
And which would be better for the piping? I can get everything at practically no cost (my dad works at an oil refinery and they use all the same piping (T304 stainless, etc).

There's kind of enough room. All depends on how much stuff you want to move/remove.
As for tubing..
if you're gonna make a log style, go with 304 think wall. Basically Weld-El's. Used in hydralic applications, basically cast pipe. That's what the LT1 stuff is made of. If i were making a header, I'd go with 321 thin wall, like .065 wall (16 gauge)

This is on my Mustang, but you can do the same. There are pics in "turbo motor complete"

It's a SS kit I bought from Kooks, with merge collectors.
