Default Turbo LS1 Update (pics)

Well, they still have to put my motor/tranny in the car the intank and inline fuel pumps. Also, they have to put the rest of the tubing from the turbo kit on and also put on the LCA's w/brackets, and install the gauges in the car.

Here are some pictures.....

oil feed/return lines have already been done and drilled.

It's a Turbonetics T60.

i`m running that same kit with a ported turbo manifold, forged pistons,9:1-1 comp, 10psi and only making 380rwhp 450rwtq. in my opinion the turbo is way to small for the ls1. also on a side note the t60 would be good for about 450rwhp on our cars but the turbo they sell with the kit is a 60-1 hifi with smaller inlet and outlet than the t60 and will only flow 80% of what the t60 will. This is just my encounters with the kit i`ve had it to 6 differant shops and they all say the same thing. The turbo is maxed. my advice would be get the T76 before you even put the motor in the car. but i want to wish you luck, maybe you can make more power with stock Compression. hopefully you have better luck with the kit then i have.

the downpipe needs to go 90* clockwise from the drivers seat, good eye my turbo

its obviouly a turbotech kit and 500rwhp has NEVER been done with that turbo on an ls1. you will definitely want to upgrade to the 76 before even thinking about a 10 second pass.

*having owned the kit with a t-60 and a 76*
FWIW i made 424rw at 7psi with the 60 on pump gas 9:1 motor.. if i'd have fooled with it more maybe squeaked 450rw but much more room to grow with the 76.. ive seen up to 580rw with that and some mods to the turbotech kit (cablebandit.. also my (old) kit!)

and lastly you mean that the qmp kit is kinda like it

let me know if you need any help with tuning/install etc. do you have a ported oil pump? and i think the guy was asking
how
you are doing the oil lines not have they been done.. to try and answer the way the instructions say is to go to the front driver corner of the pan with a sweeping piece of 1/2" hose off an elbow on the base of the housing.

I can vouch that mightymouse knows what he`s doing when it comes to tuneing a turbo ls1. also my 380rwhp pull was on the third back to back pull in 95* weather and 90% humidity. so on a 70* day i`d probly pull at least 420rwhp.

thanks on the heads up on the DP....

I have a ported oil pump.

I plan on upgrading to a T76 in the future (well, sooner than I thought)

I don't know how to explain how the oil lines are done. I'll have to take a picture of it. I didn't look at the motor closely enough.

Thanks for the advice guys.

turbonetics recommended the following turbo to me

turbonetics T72 ,p trim,.81 a/r

Looks to be pretty efficent around 7-10psi

I though he said the T76 was happier in the 15+ psi range.

My friend that I bought the kit off of made 350RWHP and 422RWTQ on a stock A4. Right now I have stage III CNC (stock CCs) heads and a 224/224 .561 .561 114LSA cam. Cometic .070" thickness head gaskets. Do you think that I might hit 450RWHP @ 8-10PSI? I'll call turbo technology and see if I can get a T76 turbo off of them, and see how much it is, if I need to.

at 8psi with the ported heads you should be around your 450rwhp. but the turbo will be about out of breath and will probly not be able to move enough air to feed your engine at high rpm. my hp curve flatlines @ 4200rpm because the turbo can`t flow anymore. and thats with the cutout open right after the downpipe.i`ve priced the the turbo and piping to convert to the t76 and TT price was $1500.00 .

I think the only piping differences is the air fitler connection to the turbo. the person who converted my kit, made his own peice. But a 3" downpipe with the T76 would help out some too, not sure if thats included in the priece.

you have a similar engine set up as me, cept i have 6.0 home ported heads, and my cometic gasket is .067" (dont think they make a .070" just a .054, .057, .067, .078, .098, and a .125)

that turbo will run out of breath before you can push the pump gas limit. but i think 480rwhp isnt out of the question

and ill try to get you those pics of my old 2.5" ceramic coated down pipe, it will look and keep the temps down better then that ugly header wrap.

cool, pricing doesn't sound too bad. I'll give them a call.
Thanks for the heads up ,man I'm also running a cutout in the I-pipe.

It was a misprint. The thickness is .078" on the head gaskets.

I'm interested in buying that DP off of you. You wouldn't happen to have a TT T76 laying around would you?

Were those numbers on a stock motor? I plan on getting the T76 later.

But why not step up to a T-78?
