????????????? STS Oil Return Question ??????????????
I got the turbo mounted on my exhaust and hooked up the oil pressure line to
the engine(above the oil filter). and i hooked my return line to the sts oil pump and then to the oil fill cap... I started it up and it was fine for 30
seconds or so and then it just started spraying oil all over my underbody!!!
Yes the oil pump is working...(well. i can hear it, at least)

Also... what does the thing(sensor) next to the oil pump do?
.
as a reminder i only ran it like 20 seconds... then i started it again for maybe 10 seconds
Your issue is a drain issue, so start there and figure it out.

The hob switch is to sense that there's no oil being pumped through to the front ... as in if it sees more than a set pressure, it thinks there's a blockage in the line <--- or something to that effect
check the pump, as has been said... make sure it is pumping oil back to the engine.
make sure the one way check valve going into the turbo is working ok
pcv system?? what are you running?
I havent done anything with the PCV system yet... I did think it mattered.
****!!!
BTW RooRnZ28 I love your build...
and schantin... but hes not in here yet.

The check valve that was refereed to is a brass 1-way valve that is installed prior to the turbine inlet from the oil feed line. This is to prevent pooling of oil from the inlet when the car is not running. Without a one-way check valve oil will pool into the turbine when the car is not running. When the car is started, the excess oil in the turbo has to go somewhere, so it seeps past the rings and into the hot and cold side pipes.
My suggestion is to check the wires again and ensure they are hooked up properly (yellow is NEGATIVE). You also want to check the STS warning buzzer. If the pump is running backwards, the buzzer should have sounded. The "thing" at the bottom of the oil pump is actually a flow meter that is directly connected to the warning buzzer. If the flow rate is below the threshold value, the buzzer activates. If all that appears well, check the oil return hose from the turbine to the STS pump and ensure there are no kinks or restrictions.
If you discover that the pump is NOT operating, then there is an entirly different list of things to check.......
BTW, you will need to clean the oil residue from the cold-side piping. If you do not, it will coat the MAF in oil mist and eventually make it into the intake. In a MAF tuned car oil will result in very poor performance by skewing the readings from the MAF resistors. Oil in the intake just makes a mess. Doesn't need to be surgical spotless, just wipe the inside of the piping clean with a cotton rag. For the long pipe under the driver door use a coathanger or similiar with a loop at the end to thread a rag through. Run the coathanger/rag combo through the pipe like a big a$$ed bore brush to get the oil out. This will save you from having to remove the entire pipe section, which can be a PITA.
Good luck.
